Yep, the Brickland.
The 1968-1973) Opel GT wasn't exactly a beauty queen. Nicknamed the 'baby Vette' back in the day. LOL. I never thought it resembled the 1970 Vette, except the front clip a bit. Performance wise, it did crawl like a baby. 67hp with the base engine and 102hp (83hp in 1971) with the optional engine.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that I owned a 1970 Opel Rally. The one is pretty much identical to the one I had. I did have the biggest '70' series tires that would fit on the rear. Just over 100hp. LOL. It was not pretty. I did not perform well.
*GASP*
I love that thing with all of my heart. It should be parked outside of a triple-wide with an infinity pool.
That's pretty cool! I didn't know. I like the newer Taurus SHOs that are AWD & twin turbo. 365 hp is pretty awesome for a car like that. Unfortunately they weigh 30 tons.
I do remember some performance shop, maybe Livernois, had one running low 12s. Pretty impressive for something as heavy as the Charger/Challenger behemoths.
Reminds me of my WRX in the since it's AWD, turbocharged, and making power to a point is not too difficult since you just need to an Accessport, pro-tune, full exhaust, and a few other things to make quite a bit more power. Mine was running 20.5lbs after I took it to my tuner. Only thing is the car would eat clutches every 20k miles and I had an Exedy stage 1 since it was my DD and i've had enough puck-style clutches in previous Mustangs and I hate them in street cars. My WRX made 308/339 which I thought was perfect for a DD, plus with have to do a 20% conversion since there's more drivetrain loss due to all four wheels receiving power.
The car was a beast in the winter with snow tires. It was my first brand new car after I got out of college. I really missed RWD though since my built turbo Mustang was down while I was acquiring new parts, then I eventually started parting it out as I focused on buying more performance parts for my WRX.
I haven't looked through the entire thread yet, but I hope no one posted a Suzuki Samurai. Those things are badass. I remember when I visited my cousins in Castlegar, BC and my uncle took my Dad and I to this gun range and we went the long way up the mountains and I was so surprised how this old Suzuki that most likely has close to the same power the Escort had would just relentlessly tackle any obstacle in it's way. I would love to have one for a DD, but most people caught on and they are not that easy to find anymore.
