Well, finally have some good updates to post.

The heads are in the machine shop and i should be getting them back this week. Getting a valve job, resurface, a new set of springs, 1 new valve (found 1 bent valve from previous owner), and everything else check out and replaced if needed. Ill know more later this week. The engine and all components other than heads were dropped off to be assembled, once heads are done, they will be delivered and my motor will be assembled. (Intake to oil pan minus accessories since i haven't bought them yet.)

We FINALLY finished up the tubs and the back of the car. Still need to weld in a bulkhead at some point, will likely wait until after the cage is installed. I am 100% happy with the way the tubs turned out other then it being i PITA. The trunk floor is complete and everything is seam sealed and painted. I got the deck lid mounted back on the car as well.

I couldn't resist and ordered my new rear wheels, to my surprise i received them a week later, even though i was told the it would be close to 3-4 weeks. I had the tires mounted and balanced and are now on the car! All of the front suspension is now removed as we shift our focus that direction. I will be selling my tubular k-member, a-arms, coil overs, spindles, and factory brakes. It will all be replaced with new components.

Spent a little time working on body work, still have a little welding to do. I cut out a plate to seal up the 5 speed hole in floor as well. Will likely be hiring someone to come and complete the body work and paint. I just dont have the time to mess with it, and im not really interested in doing it anyway lol. Hopefully over the next few months the engine bay will be completed, all suspension and brakes installed, and be sitting back on all 4 wheels. At this point we will toss in the motor and re-assemble the front body panels.

On to the pics:

Started ordering parts for the front suspension. Hoping to get this car back on her on feet soon. Picked up a flaming river steering shaft, SN95 spindles, new hubs and bearings for spindles, Moroso 3" wheel studs. Still trying to decide if im going to go with new UPR k-member and a-arms or Team-z. Going to try and have this body work knocked out and some paint sprayed in the engine bay by the end of next month.

Heads are back in the machine shop, had some issues with the quality of work i received. Hoping to have them back by the end of the week. I ordered JE pro-seal head gaskets, ARP intake studs, ARP valve cover studs, and some Mr. gasket locking oil pan bolts. Hopefully ill have some pics of the motor intake to oil pan to share soon

The people that did my heads suck, never EVER going there again.

Head gaskets should be here monday, only thing holding me back from assembling at this point. Hoping these people didnt just ruin my heads.

Updates:

Picked up a clean black dash off of ebay for a good price. So going to be trying to sell my current one, nothing wrong with it other than its black on top and grey on bottom.

Since my car was a factory non a/c car, i have to change the heater core box with one that accepts an evap. One of my buddies from the local forum was able to find one at the junk yard and pull it for me. Going to pick it up on my way in from offshore tomorrow.

I went ahead and ordered a new heater core from LMR while its out. I plan to clean up the box and swap out the heater core this week. And go ahead and get it mounted in place. I also ordered a new drivers side window motor as the factory one took a dump on me the day before i pulled the motor.

To finish off the dash project, i ordered a new EZ wire dash harness. Going to go ahead and get the wiring done behind the dash and get the a/c componets hooked up. At this point ill get the carpet back in and install the new dash. Going to modify my rear coupe panels and likely dye them black. Would like to get the interior wrapped up minus seats. I will be ordering new TMI black covers for the factory seats to finish off the black interior. Hopefully ill have that done by next month, get the windows rolled up, and clean the heck out of the inside of the car. Im going to eventually get the car over to my upholstery shop and have them build all new custom panels for the truck and a rear seat delete. That will finish off the interior.

Should have the motor back from assembly this weekend. At that point ill order a new k-member, a-arms, coilovers, motor mounts, brakes, and wheels. Going to mount everything together including trans. After i get the engine bay painted ill just roll everything under the car from the bottom.

Intake manifold studs, valve cover studs, and oil pan bolts (havent taken pics of head gaskets or 3" wheel studs yet)

EZ wiring kit, looks like a niece setup.

Ohhh the dash is niceeee!!!

Thanks, build has slowed down a little lately. I purchased a new '16 5.0 a couple months ago and changed jobs. Ended up with a lot less time off, but that will change. My wife is on me now about getting some more parts coming. Think she wants this thing done more than I do sometimes lol.

Small updates:

I pretty much got all the interior back in the car. The new black dash looks great! I painted all my rear trim panels black to match everything else, that was pretty much the only thing other than dash that wasn't black already. I installed a new heater core and evap core in the air box and got it all back in as well. Shifter is back in and even stuck the seats back in for now. I still need to recover them in black, but since the metal work is pretty much complete at this time, im trying to get the car back to one piece to get ready to move it from @4.0 's house and over to Kustom Werx to have all the body work and paint done in the engine bay.

Ill be ordering all the front suspension over the weekend, and the wheels and brakes shortly after. So she should be back to a roller very soon.

Rick (SSPSTANGBANGER) is still working on assembling the long block, should have that back soon as well. Last I heard he just needed to install the intake, oil pan, and timing cover. :dancenana:

Awesome build! Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Thanks, im def ready to get this wrapped up and on the street again.

I can't wait to see the motor sitting in the engine bay

That's going to be a great day, likely still a few months out. Depends on the time it takes the body shop to get the engine bay done. Ill have my motor back by then for sure, so itll make its way in there shortly after I get the car back.

Vince...bud....ima need you to hurry this thing along..thanks

Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Lol, ill accept a donation if you want to help speed it up :)

Well, took advantage of some memorial day sales.

Ordered:
UPR tubular K member
UPR 1" shorter adjustable A-arms
Offset steering rack bushings
Strange adjustable front struts
UPR coilover kit w/ 12-175 springs
New k-member bolt kit

Im sitting here debating on if I want to go ahead and order my front brakes. I want the baer track 4 setup, but those don't come standard in fire red like my rear brakes do. So its like $1900 for front brakes vs buying the same ss4+ setup that I have in the rear for only $795. Only thing im worried about is that the 11" rotor will look goofy with a 17" wheel. But hard to justify another grand just to have 2" bigger rotors up front. I think the ss4+ package up front and rear with a hydroboost system will be plenty of stopping power. Opinions? Anyone?

Good news is, at this point; Im just brakes and front wheels away from having a roller again! And I have the cash to order both, but trying to figure out what to buy :coolman:

Awesome build thread and work, subscribing.

Thanks man

Got a few things done over the weekend. We got the new k-member, adjustable a-arms, coil overs, flaming river steering shaft, steering rack, and caster camber plates all installed on the front of the car. Rick also finished up my long block assembly so I was able to get that back home. My wheels also showed up today. Going to try to have the car sitting back on the ground this week after almost a year of sitting on jack stands.

Next step is to get it in the body shop to get the engine bay finished up and painted. That is already in the works, so hopefully that ball will get rolling soon on that.

Hmm. I downloaded them twice and they keep going sideways. I'm not sure what is going on. I copy and pasted from my local forum like I always do. The pics are straight there and sideways here.
