Yes. Easy, but didn't worry about draining cooling line and cooler. Most important thing to remember is to open the fill plug before the drain plug (to ensure you can refill it, once it's drained).
Im going to be using Royal Purple Synchromax Manual Transmission Fluid. do you think it matters if i don't drain the cooling line and cooler? somewhere i saw that you have to have the car on while refilling it. is that the right way to do it?
thanks
I just did mine a couple weeks ago and used the amsoil signature series atf multi vehicle and there was a noticeable difference in smoothness of gear engagement.
If you have a TP I would recommend disconnecting the trans cooler lines from the transmission and letting them drain so you can, for the most part ensure you have all the same fluid in there.
Transmission fluid without cooler 3.6 quarts (3.4L)
Transmission fluid with cooler 4.1 quarts (3.9L)
Motorcraft® MERCON® V
The TREMEC 6060 6-speed manual transmission on your Shelby GT500 uses
MERCON® V automatic transmission fluid. Make sure that the correct MERCON® V ATF automatic transmission fluid is used as indicated on the label on your transmission.
Service refill capacity is determined by filling the transmission to the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on a level surface. For vehicles with a transmission cooler, the engine must be running, the clutch pedal must be released, and the transmission must be in neutral to perform the service refill.
