This is current production. Biden has raised royalty rates on public land and made permitting more difficult. Oil and gas companies have been constrained more by their own investors than by the govt.

SPR is all politics and not relevant to actual supply. It gets a lot of attention but it is insignificant in the scheme of things.

It worked out OK for the Biden midterms, gave the nonstop proabortion ads more traction with gas prices off the table.

Be interesting to see if the Saudi's respond again.

They could play it like it like Nov 2014 when they didn't cut and dropped a nuke on US onshore producers. It was a different dynamic though. They were also blowing out Russia, which is now OPEC +. US onshore was levered to the max with negative CF. I think OPEC will cut. Long oil.

As winter temperatures plunge across Texas, the state’s wind energy production has dwindled significantly. ERCOT attributes this decline to “unseasonably low wind” conditions.

Is it wind speed only, or is temp and humidity added into the formula?

????? Apparently not on Mon and Tue morning.

NORTH TEXAS - ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) are had asked Texans to limit electricity use Monday morning due to continued freezing temperatures, very high demand, and unseasonably low wind.

According to the statement from ERCOT on Sunday, operating reserves were expected to be low Monday morning before the solar ramp-up. As a result, ERCOT asked that electricity use be preserved from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.

ERCOT did end it's conservation appeal on time Monday morning, but said it expects similar conditions on Tuesday.

It’s wind speed and ice accumulation. They shut them off when the winds are too high. They can’t slow them down and they can run away causing failures.

Right. I’m sure ERCOT’s never lied or bent the truth…
