Those ships should have .50 Cals mounted, 2 on each side and 1 in front and 1 in back.
No reason the pirates should be getting that close at all, imagine those Somali's start loading their boats with explosives and gunning for the the ship.

The 5.56/.223 will be more than adequate for those guys.
