I don't know what kind of news sites you follow, but the very first story on CNN.com is an article about his death...

That man was an icon for ALL rock music. He lived a long life and was lucky enough to keep playing right up until his death. Start watching for some kickass memorial concerts from guys like Steve Vai, John Mayer, etc.
