If/when I get $400 to play with, I am gonna pick up a V1, but to tell you the truth, I don't really speed and race around that much, I do 75 on the highway and maybe 5 over the speedlimit around towns, cops never care when I drive by.

^^^my 350 dollar "gimmick" has saved me at least 20 times over the last 3 and a half years.

I also have a escort 8500/X50 and it works great against K/Ka and laser. Turned the X function off because the cop's around here don't use it anymore. i have a friend who bought a K40 and it was junk IMO. Maybe it wasnt installed correctly or IMO he did'nt know how to use it? He got 3 tickets in 5 months after purchase. Go figure after 2 grand.

the installation of the k40 is critical. if they **** that up, you're toast. i don't know if it matters as much for the radar part, but i know it does for the laser sensors.

My passport 8500 picked up laser all the time. It saved me a couple of times, although I wasn't going to fast so who knows, maybe they figured wasn't worth the time to look for me? Although I don't think so because I used to always get pulled over before it.

I agree that when a laser is used, just because you have a detector, you probably won't have enough time to slow down if your really going through the gears, but if you're just speeding a little, I would think it would help.
