Ok, I just got hit dead nuts with what I assume would have been a Laser. My Valentine One NEVER seems pick up laser. The manual even said that it hardly picks it up. Everytime I see Illinois State Police it NEVER goes off, so that must mean they have laser. I don't believe that every time I see ISP they don't have their shit on.

So what does everyone else have? Does it ACTUALLY pick up laser? Do you have a V1 that does? Is it just mine?

I'm REALLY pissed off about this ticket and would have thought a damn V1 would have helped, but got screwed.

CB radio and eyes peeled.

Radar detectors worked back when radars were new, now the only thing they tell you is you are about to be pulled over.

Ok if you mean a SCANNER, how would that be any different than when you can see you're gonna get pulled over. It's not like he's going to be giving out his location when he's communicating or talking while driving, while again, giving out his location.

And if you mean CB so I can talk to truckers or other hillbillies that might just so happen to have a CB radio in thier car....there's so many reasons why that won't work I shouldn't have to explain.... :bored:

I've been hit by laser with my V1 (Texas State Trooper), it'll scare the crap outta you! It's gotta be a direct hit though, since laser doesn't "bounce" like radar does.

My V1 picks up laser all the time.

The company that makes the Stalker Line of radar and laser guns is located in the town I live in.

They typically test stuff on the road I take to work and I have picked up laser from them up to a 1/2 mile away.

After I figured out it was them testing there I used to nail it when they would paint me, figured I would give them a thrill blasting past them :burnout:

They must have told the cops about me, cause one day it was a cop running laser  I was already putting along in 6th and drinking my coffee so I did not down shift and go... good thing.

If your V1 does not detect laser it is broken.

I do remember ONCE seeing Laser, but this was a while ago. I mean I saw the L and it made a sound I never heard before. Kind like a "watch the hell out!!" But it all came and went with in a second.

The reason I suspect it's broken is because even when the bastard got me and turned around to pull me over, I got nothing, and THEN when he was behind me writting my just rewards, I plugged it in for fun and it wasn't going off?

I don't know. This isn't the first time I've had to turn it back in to V1 to get fixed. Cost me $45 too.

Which Cobra do you have, BLKSVT?

from my understanding once the detector reads laser its too late, the laser already has your speed. i am not sure how accurate this statement is. i do know that a lot of law enforcement is switching to laser and is very confident against all detectors.

yes my off brand detector picks up laser. i hear it every time i drive by sky harbor airport in phoenix.

If you are running by yourself or are first in line your dead. The only way that you would get a pre warning is a car ahead of you gets lasered first and there is enough beam spread to go past the car and hit the V-1.

If you think that the laser function is defective send it in for checking.

You can see when cops shoot laser. There are no in-car laser setups. They have to be outside the car shooting with a handheld device, so you can easily tell whether or not they're shooting laser.

The V1 will have false laser detection due to certain types of LED taillights on newer cars. Mine picks up those readings occasionally.

Yes the V1 will pick up laser, but often it is too late. That's with any laser detector though. I did pick up readings off other cars once before while heading to a baseball game. I knew where they shot laser near the stadium and my V1 went off 2 or 3 times before the cop came into view.

How old is your V1? You need to keep it updated so it's detecting what law enforcement is currently using. If you don't you can get hit by certain radar detectors as well as lasars.

Go to their website, type in your VIN from your unit and it will tell you if it's out of date.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 x50 that's a couple years old. It usually reads laser (no tickets yet) as well as has almost no flase readings.....As with all radar detectors if you are the only car on the road, good luck.....Mine has saved me a few dozen times as I drive a lot and am always speeding.

my v1 picks up laser, just got it in june for my bday from my gf. i love it. im running mine on advanced logic. and i agree, the laser warning scares the crap outta ya. beeps like hell and you get the 3 horizontal lines warning you.

my girlfriend loves when it flashes the "J" for other junk radars for some reason, prob cuz she bought me the v1 and not a "junk" one
