At 40 I change to 5th to race I drop to 3rd and for not stay in 4th

Light throttle easy gas mileage driving I go 1 - 3 - 5, once I'm going fast enough to not lug, if the speed limit picks up enough, then I go into 6th.

Usually 50 and above for 6th, but that is if I know I can stay in 6th a while.

Even though it's a noisier gear I use 5th quite early.

The 4.6 has a fairly generous stroke and with 3.55s is not hurting for un-boosted low end torque.

Early shifts are for very light throttle though.
