Will a 275/40ZR17" Nitto Tire fit a 10" wide wheel?

I'm looking into getting some wheels and wondering if my current tires will work for the 10".

I think I have made my decision on either the Saleen SC Replicas or the 10th Anniversary Replicas (Chrome) 17x9 and 17x10

I doubt they will fit.

Nittos run narrow and even if they do fit it will look horrible as the tire will be stretched out too far on the rim, much like the VW guys do. :nonono:

It wont look like that ^ whatsoever. Im sure it will fit but might as well upgrade since you have a wider rear. Get some 315's

It won't look right/good...

IDK, I mean I think you guys may be going the right direction, but the 275s are a little wider than the 9" wheel already I wish somebody with direct experience would chime in. Thanks for the help anyway.

A 275 tire is actually 10.8" wide. It would work.
I have seen 275 Goodyears on 10.5" wheels and it looked odd to say the least. The sidewalls were really stretched out to meet the wheel. Now, keeping in mind that Nittos run smaller (more narrow) compared to other brands, you will be pushing it. I wouldn't spend your money until someone can produce pictures of this combo for your review.

Take a look at the diagram below. You can see what a Goodyear 285 looks like on a 10.5" wheel. Notice how the rim actually sticks out further than the sidewall of the tire and the sidewalls angle outward to meet the wheel? That's going to be even more obvious with a Nitto 275. Also notice how a Nitto 315 is nowhere near as wide as other brands of 315s. That's what I mean when I say that Nittos run smaller than other brands. Forget published specs...this diagram was made from actual measurements...

If you're on a budget and want 315s, pick up some Sumitomos at Tire Rack for $110/each.

The first pic shows better than the 2nd, but 10 inch with a 275-40 will be fine.
