Question about 2013 I just bought

So I am finally an owner of the awesome Shelby. I traded my bolt-on 2013 GT to get it. Question is, the car was sold as a 2013 model from the dealership, but all the manuals in the glove box are for a 2014 model, and I read somewhere that only the 2014 model has the snake come up on the nav, and mine does, so how do I find out if my car really is a 2013 with these features by coincidence, or is a really a 2014 that was mistakenly sold as a 2013? May sound dumb, but I am a little curious about that.

Open car door and see if it says SVT or SVT 20th Anniversary. If it says SVT it's 2014 if 20th Anniversary it's a 2013. That's as long as the plates weren't changed out.

Yep, 20th Anniversary, didn't think about that. Maybe the dealership just put in some new manuals in the car if the old ones were missing. Thanks

Good chance the dealer doesn't know the difference between the years. I would go back to them and tell them you'd like the 2013 packet that goes with the car. Enjoy the beast!!!

Congrats on the new purchase. So your car has a Snake appear on the dash when starting the car?

Also, how do you like the Shelby compared to your bolt-on 5.0?

You can also tell by the VIN. If the 10th character is a "D" it's a 2013, if it's an "E" it's a 2014.

Congrats on getting a GT500 and post some pics, you must have a very late built 2013 if it has the cobra and not the horse on the display.

Hey Ktulu,

First of all, Congrats on the pick-up!

I'm going to go with that you most likely have a very late built 2013, which is awesome!

I would recommend running the Vin as that should answer every question you might have.

Let's see some pictures of the beast!

Any plans set in stone yet? I know she won't stay stock for long

Yea, I wouldn't have thought they would have messed up on the year, but with the manuals and the snake on the nav, it threw me off a little, lol. As far as the difference between the Shelby and my bolt-on car, the speed doesn't feel much different until 3rd gear, and the handling is far better. Not even a comparison. I have no regrets at all about trading up to this car. Here are some pics.

From the picture he posted, the Cobra is on the NAV, not the center display and he confirmed the 20th Anniversary sill plates.
The Cobra in the center display didn't show up until sometime in March of 2013, 2014MY.

First thing I will do is an intake an tune. Most likely the JLT. I had AirAid on my GT and loved that one. Any recommendations on CAI? I really can't wait to get rid of that resonator on the intake. I want that loud supercharger whine. Our Mini Cooper S has more whine than this currently, lol.

And my bad on the snake, I was taking the center as being on the nav, not the 4" between gauges. Definitely still a horse there.

Good taste in cars, we have a MINI Cooper S as well, albeit the R56 (turbo) not R53 (supercharged).

I myself have a 2013 and it's a Pony in the 4" display between the speedo and tach. My sill plates say 20th Anniversary therefore indicating 2013 MY. As far as intakes go, JLT stopped producing the 127mm Carbon Fiber due to production costs from their supplier, there is no difference from 123 and 127mm sans the look (your car won't miss the 4mm difference which only comes down to thinner walls on the 127 due to it being carbon fiber and not plastic like the 123mm).

Nice car, and it looks like you also have the better MPSS tires instead of the stock Goodyear F1s. First mods are usually an oil separator, hood struts and a no drill front plate holder. If your just looking for more blower whine you can also do a resonator delete like this one from JLT that doesn't require a tune.

I would go on VMPs wedsite and get there stage 2 kit, it has the JLT 123MM intake, there 67MM TB and there tune, it will be a nice increase in power and great drivability

JLT 123 OR 127, TB and tune are great 1st mods really wake the car up. If you don't want to tune the car right away you can run a res delete and Ford Racing twin 65 TB w/ no tune, it's a good option if you don't want to worry about voiding your waranty.
