alright so here's this dilemma i've been having with myself lately. I've always wanted/loved vettes and I had the opportunity to purchase a C6 when i got back from my last deployment but ended up ordering a '12 5.0 base model. I love the car and I've done a few things to it to help open it up but i still keep thinking about the vette and if i would of enjoyed it more than the stang.

So for you prior C6 or hell even C5 ZO6 guys are you happier with the 5.0?

you won't get called a douche as much driving the stang.... lol

I gotta wait till I get around 50 or so to drive a corvette man....

I bet insurance is cheaper on a C6 though

If I didnt need the back seats, I would have been back in a C6 no doubt. That car was so much more fun to drive on the street. Tons of power, plus it handled like crazy. I do miss it.

insurance is definitely cheaper when it comes to the vette for some reason. a few years back i was debating a C5 and went with the WS6 instead "assuming" insurance would be cheaper than on a vette and i was def wrong. I'm currently stationed in Germany and still have about 2 years left over here so the odds of me even finding a C6 like I want and not having to pay out the ass for it is pretty slim. until then I suppose i'm just going to have to add some boost and go from there.

I had a 99 Hard top and an 07 Z06 there different cars.
The ZO6 right from the factory doesn't need anything but a back seat there awesome.
I really like my Conv 2011 and wouldn't trade it in on a new Vette.
The Mustang IMOP needs mods right from the day u pick it up.
The first thing needed is to be lowered with widder rims and tires.
That alone makes these cars handle so much better.

Money isn't a problem. I bought this car because I like it and I was part of the original 5.0 era.

I recently sold my C6 Vette H/C/I and bought a '12 GT, i would definately get back into a C6 in a heartbeat if I didnt need the back seats. I dont think you would look back if you got into a LS3 C6, if I were to get another one I'd get a 06+ C6 Z06.

5.0 is not bad. It is cheaper to mod, it is newer, back seats is a plus, and with exhaust intake and a tune will be even with 02-04 C5Z or LS3 c6.
Corvette is much more special IMO. Corvette is more refined, faster, gets way more attention, looks much better, feels like a true race car(especially C5Z). I have driven multiple 5.0s and I like them, but Corvette is just all around better car. You see tons of 5.0s and new Camaros, they are just so common and basic. Nothing special, nothing about them that stands out. Corvette on the other hand is a pleasure to look at. I'm glad there that we have 5.0s and Comaros, because in a way they help to define a corvette.
I sold my 03 Cobra a while back and I know when I'm ready for another car it will be a Corvette.

the demographic that drives them. They dont get in wrecks that much and dont get stolen all that often.

Right after I graduated college, my dad bought my Neon off me because it had some issues. He fixed it and drove it for a lil while, then sold it and got a C6 convertible vette. His insurance went up $20 every 6 mo

thanks for the input guys. I just need to track someone down on this base that owns one and somehow convince him to let me drive his C6. Shouldn't be that hard to do right? lol. The back seat issue wouldn't be a problem. I'm 6'2 and my wife is right at 6' so there's not much room for anyone in the back and we aren't planning on having children, at least not for quite some time.

I just bought my 12' gt to replace my 03 cobra. I love it. I have driven my dad's c5z on numerous occasions and I like the way it drives too. TOTALLY different driving cars as most of us know, its all personal preference.
Alot of people say there are alot of mustangs around but there are plenty of vettes on the road as well. I do plan on getting a vette one day down the road but for now I love my mustang. Btw my gt beat my dads c5z in almost stock condition!
No personal experience with a c6 though.

I owned a 2006 corvette Z51 6sp, and I will be shopping for a 2011+ mustang soon. Although the Corvette was very nice, and looks better than the current Mustang, I have no desire for another one. A lot of good things about the Vette, but a few things that bothered me: Somewhat cheap looking interior(for a $55K car), trans a little notchy, flimsy seats, LS2 sounds boring no matter what exhaust, front scrapes on everything, and most of all: Hard to see out of -feels like your riding under the car.

Had a C5Z06 for a couple of years. Had 2 Terminators before that. Now have a Boss302. I'd take a Terminator over a C5Z. C6Z would be the only one I'd go for.

I owned two c5 vettes and a 2000 FRC. I like the vette better than the stang. The stang handles and performs as good, however, the FRC c5 has a beautiful body line imo.

Must be 01 Z06, if it is 02-04 your friend can't drive or the there is an issue with his car. I think even against 01 Zo6 a 5.0 will loose if the race goes to 140mph or so.

My friend owns a stock 2008 C6, my 5.0 only has axle back and we are about even. He does pull about a fender about 130mph, but we don't usually race to 130 lol.
