Suspended silver is very good at destroying bacteria. .

old people say cut an oinion and put beside your bed at night..

I hear Apple Cider Vinegar will clear the infection..

Put Honey on open wound. Infection (bacteria ) cant grow in honey. .

Haha the SVTP doctors lounge. These answers cracked me up for some reason, valid or not, they just sound silly.

OP, Just soak your leg in the hottest water you can stand and open it back up, so it can drain.

I always had good luck with neosporin clearing things up.

Ok, so any word on the progression? Looks like a spider bite. Had a friend go through this a second time. Spider bites can be rough. Nitroglycerin patches can be used if necessary. Make sure to keep it clean to prevent infection. And keep a close eye on it. It will more than likely need to be lanced and cleaned and warm compresses applied to help draw out the infection followed by cold compresses to slow the spread. Good luck and hope it is just some other kind of infection.

Did you look around the area to see if you could find a spider? That would have helped out alot.

I don't think its an ingrown hair, I've had 3 and they never looked like that. Could be either a spider bite (since your in rillo i assume its a spider since in plainview brown recluse spider got bad this past week when it was warm.) Or staph. If a spider bite DO NOT put hot water or anything hot on it. It will only speed up the venom to deteriorate the skin/muscle etc.. You should actually just go to the hospital and let them see. Just dont go to long with that man, go to the hospital ASAP!

A simple blood letting should be all you need but if that doesn't do the trick..... I know this doctor......

I would have considered going to another doctor, maybe a skin specialist, for a second opinion. Especially since it is so painful. Hope it clears up soon for you.

First off, your pics show a CLEAR progression, from mild erythema that increased, but now with a central area of necrosis (dead tissue). The shot you got was likely Rocephin. I disagree with you going back to this Doc, who likely sees VERY little environmental-type issues - bites, staph etc. The ER is where you need to go next.

Don't put neosporin on this. The infection is cellulitic - expanding into the tissues. Neosporin will do squat for this. If it drains it will actually be beneficial. What you need is a course of strong oral antibiotics - such as Bactrim or a Levaquin/Doxycycline combo at LEAST, and probably more if it has progressed.

In any event, please don't mess with this, and seek your next opinion at an ER. The sooner the better.

I mean this in the nicest way---

It's a staph infection. The cause could be anything-----an ingrown hair, a scrape, a cut, a puncture wound, a mosquito bite, a failed attempt at injecting drugs, etc

The reason it gets to the level it has is usually related to poor hygiene---yes, dirty, stinky people who don't shower. The acceptions are people whose immune systems aren't up to clearing bacteria, or people who are extremely unlucky, and spontaneously get an abscess, which is what this is. Has nothing to do with spiders

Definitely looks like MRSA, I had one a few years back on my thigh and it was very painful. The first doctor I went to mis-diagnosed me and gave me some medicine. After it continued to get worse I saw another doctor who immediately knew what it was.

As others have already said, you need to go to another doctor before it gets worse. They will drain it and will give you an antibiotic, mine was better within a week or two. Now I just have a scar that looks like I was shot in leg lol.

Every strange anomaly on the skin is a spider bite to most people. I have always wondered about these spiders who just bite people for no reason. Spiders don't just crawl into beds. Spider bites have got to be pretty uncommon. I do things and work in areas where spider contact is frequent and have never been bit.
