True surround sound isn't so much about the speakers as much as using the right cables. Dolby digital sound can only be achieved using a optical cable. Get that and you'll be good. The surround sound will be great. Quality of speakers only start mattering when compared to one another and then BOSE will always win.

P.S get yourself a good sub. I ended getting an HSU sub and it made my whole entire ONKYO Home theater in a package. I ended up replacing the front speakers as well with some polks..My room is about the same size as yours and let me tell you that sucker adds alot of depth to movies...big difference IMHO

I know that was one of the funniest things Id ever read. (Red Poisons Post)

Between Monster Cable and Bose, they have really sewn up the most advertising means better sound than any company out there.

we are using a nice yamaha reciever with some Definitive Technology Super Towers in the front with Definitive Technology center and rears.....you can hear every detail, and when you just want to crank it up for music it will rattle everything hanging on the walls.

sounds way better than the bose garbage

There is now a Wii & a few other things crammed into the tv stand. I wanted to wall mount it & hide the cabling in the walls, but I rent so that's out of the question for now.

The TV is a Vizio 42" Plasma. It's a damn good tv for $700.00.

The reciever/cabinets are made by realistic, & are about 30 years old. (hand me down from my Dad when he owned a radio shack) Despite its age, this is one of the best recievers I have ever heard! The speakers were shot when I got them, so I replaced everything but the tweeters since there are solid state.
I had to re-wire the crossovers, build new braces & make larger portholes for the new (polk) subs, new baffles for the mids(kicker) etc... It was a fun little project. The cops have been by twice already! (Damn 700watts of xbox live)

Not bad for a poor kid saving for a mach1 & college at the same time!

First of all.....don't buy that monster cable garbage and other name brand crap from the usual stores. Don't get me wrong, they make decent stuff, but their prices are marked up a bazillion percent.
Search online for companies that sell cable at discounted prices. You can also use bulk wire from home depot, and with some nice heavy gauge, it will work just as well as the name brand stuff and cost about 1/4 the price.
I am a fan of Yamaha receivers, and have used nothing but Definitive Technology for all my speakers. For some reason though, Definitive really like to suck power, so make sure you have a good receiver. Klipsch is also a brand I have had in the past. They make a good speaker as well. Nice and loud, but not quite as rich as Definitive.

Bottom line......Check ebay man!!!!! There are a million deals to be had. It's a good thing my wife put the lock down on my credit card otherwise I would have speakers and audio equipment coming out of my ass!

Good luck.

my ghetto set up. and I don't get to pick the wall paper so I don't want to hear how bad it is because I know (think old new england style colonial not that it helps) Paradigm speakers, Anthem Statement D2 processor, and Rotel power. Until I'm able to build a dedicated room this has to do for now.

Here's mine...it's nothing extreme but we like it. This was all done this summer by me, my GF, and my brothers.

nice man.
My family has a projector set up as well, matched to 7.1 surround sound. We have it set up to utilize a 92'' screen. What size are you running, it looks a bit bigger then my family's, 108"? We have a full dedicated theater room, rocking 4 recliners and a small fridge for the beverages!
