I need some ideas of designs on a home theater room. I have a spare bedroom 10x12. It's a small room and I have a 37" LCD 1080p TV I need to use somewhere. So I got the idea to do a home theater. Any ideas? Pics wanted.

Ok,I guess I will have to start. Here is what I got going so far. Any suggestions for my small room?
I'm on a budget and so far the room has cost me $200.00.
The TV and PS3 was a present. THe futon was left by my roommate, the chairs(the circle things) are from work. The pictures and movie decor are closeout specials from Kirkland.
Paint will come next, along with bose 3-2-1 GS. Looking to get some oversized bean bags for the floor instead of the chairs.

Sorry for the bad pictures cell phone pictures.

Red Poison - Def a purpose built room there. Nice.

 much appreciated.

All I ever wanted was a movie theater room. I've been in so many model homes (that I couldn't afford) that had the perfect setup: big cozy, different level (can't think of the right term for it right now) chairs, projector hanging from the ceiling, whole wall screen with the old school popcorn machine in the corner. I cant wait to get that! In the mean time I just put something together where I could feel like its a theater.

the color on the wall is named "movie theater red" - sherwin williams

What do you recommend for a system with such a small room? I just need something with more crispness and depth without all the wires and mounting.

with such a small room you don't need much. Normally I wouldn't recommend this, but a wireless system would probably do it. No wires except for the reciever of course. I wouldn't think you'd need more than that. College is all about the basics anyway. :rolling:

You shoulda seen our TV, surround sound, and dvd player in school. It looked like we found them in a dumpster behind a radioshack from 1972. But MAN did that system kick.

Save a little money and get one of those theater systems from best buy or circuit city.

$200
Pioneer - 864W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater Audio Receiver and Speaker System - HTP-2920

They come with all the surround sound speakers and the receiver. Put the speakers on some cheap stands or something. You can run the wires for the back speakers under the floor trim betwee the carpet (if you have carpet) and the base board.

I just turned around and ran my clock power cord under just to show you how easy it is.
Speaker wire is WAY thinner. If you do it that way, you won't have to worry about running wires that can be seen.

True surround sound isn't so much about the speakers as much as using the right cables. Dolby digital sound can only be achieved using a optical cable. Get that and you'll be good. The surround sound will be great. Quality of speakers only start mattering when compared to one another and then BOSE will always win.

please save yourself, and your money, and stay clear of the Bose 3-2-1 system. Please...

True dat! Friends don't let friends by Bose, No highs no lows must be Bose, etc. lol.

This is not just because I'm Canadian but stick to the Canadian Speaker companies. If you read into the guys who started these companies you will learn why. Paradigm, Energy, Mirage, etc.

Most of the work these guys did with the National Research Council is used by Speaker makers, Theatre/Studio designers around the world.
