painting the alternator

Has anyone painted the alternator and if so did you take it apart? I've read afew post where people didn't and said it worked fine.

Seperate the alternator and get the case powder coated. I haven't don't it on the stang but have for another car.

I painted the alternator on my wife's 05 GT. I did not take it apart, no issues so far. Used black spray paint.

If you had a simplified cooling system eliminating some of the crap it would show. Paint tends to hold in heat more, that's something I don't want to do with our cars and there already cursed alternators....

This is true. However you could use Ceramic coat to reduce the radiant heat from the headers to reduce the case getting heat soaked. But that's only a theory. Not sure if it would actually help or not.

I disassembled mine and had it powder coated but my car is twin turbo and the alternator is on top of the motor like the older cobras so you can see it.

You can see mine LOL, Twin Turbo. Going to paint the Belt Tensioner too. I guess gloss black for both.

No idea if this was just marketing or not, but ford did paint the Eatons on the '03 F150 HDs and claimed it was done for heat reduction. Not sure what type paint was used
