Currently have the bassani 5pc x pipe so the mids would bolt right up. Or I can go with the pacesetter and offload x for about the same price 750 either way. Anyone have any insight on fitment for either? I know I'll probably get more hp out of the long tubes. Plus the bonus would be being able to sell the bassani x pipe and gain about 350 400 bucks back on that as well

I think you would be much better off going with BBK LT's and an H-pipe than anything from Pacesetter or a mid-length header.

I want to keep it catless. Plus going with either bbk set up is going to cost more than I wanna spend. I think I'm decing to go with the bassani. Just because it's already ceramic coated and I know they'll fit like a glove. Plus there can't be that much difference in power

I would do the Pace Setters. I have the Pace Setters and although not yet installed my research has shown that these actually fit really well and allow dropping of the transmission if you need to do a clutch / trans work. The BBK's are too narrow and require removal of them if you need to do any trans work.

Does anyone have a picture of the x pipe actually bolting up on a 96 to 98 cobra? That's my biggest worry

All the reviews on the x pipe from 96 to 98 cobra owners site the trans crossmember. Which I know causes isses because I tried to install a 99+ x pipe on my cobra and here is the result. Simply doesn't clear the cross member. However I think I may be able to make 2 clamp in pieces for my bassani unit that will make it work with no cutting or welding

Haven't crossed that bridge yet. I bought the matching Pacesetter X pipe to go with the long tubes. Hard to tell what the real issue is from those pics.

The x pipe x section isn't wide enough to clear the crossmemeber. They just run into it. This might be a better picture for the explanation. See how it doesn't line up with the pre bent crossmemeber for the exhaust tube? Also there's a comparison with the stock piece which may also help.

That makes perfect sense now. Thank you for the pics. I am going to run down and check my x pipe right quick

Not sure if this is any help for you or not. If you want to take some measurements I am more than happy to measure mine and compare.

I think I'm just going to order the headers and not the x pipe. Judging by that picture I think I can just use some small easily made straight adapters off my bassani x to fit them up easily. Seeing that picture is a good help thank you.

Not to derail the thread, but I am leaning toward JBA ML headers. I am interested in ground clearance and low end torque of ML and I like the JBA for how they are one piece.

I'm going to be installing Bassani mids on my 04 within the next month. They were orignally on my 01 Cobra. I just had them recoated because I wanted a little extra protection. Friend of mine had a set on his 04 making about 800rwhp with a Whipple 3.4. So I think they can flow just fine.

FWIW, the 5 piece mid pipe I currently have was originally installed on my 98 GT. I couldn't let it go when I sold that car.

So no problems with the Bassani ML leakage around the collector?

Probably a little. But not enough that I remember noticing.

I should add that when I put the slip fit collector on I needed to use a mallet to get it all the way on.

I ended up with pace setters. It's going to be easy adapting them to my 5 piece x so I'm happy. I did however get good reflex gaskets because I can't stand leaks
