Hey, heads-up:
I didn't see anyone mention there's a $33.99 deal on synthetic oil & upgrade to a K&N filter for an additional $4.
Also there is a $10 rebate on top of that for each deal limited to 2 only.
Can't pass this one up....
Perfect for 5w20 on the SVTLs or 5w30 on the SVTFs....
Or any other performance vehicle in mind.....

Assuming Pennzoil isn't lying about the super low NOACK Volatility of their new Ultra formulation, it's what I would buy for this deal.

They are claiming 5%. Amsoil's lowest NOACK is only 5.75%

However, that's probably not covered under this deal.

There is no direct evidence that Valvoine was the cause of a spun bearing, and an equal lack of evidence that a superior formulation would have prevented it.

However, at what RPM was this engine turning when the bearing failed and what oil filter was currently in use?

the Majority of Pro Mod guys/Outlaw 10.5 guys/NHRA Sportsman classes,etc.. use 2 types of oil Valvoline VR1 Racing and Brad Penn. Blaming oil without any further analysis like the tune, fuel octane etc.. is purely speculative..

not sure on rpm. it started as a small tick then lead to a knock motor was pulled and bearing was trashed/ i believe it was a carquest filter

not blaming the quality of oil vavoline is nor am i blaming it was the cause of the problem just asked how vavoline stacks up against todays top oils

If I had to rank bearing failure in most likely to least likely, it would look like this.

1. Improper bearing clearances.
2. Lack of oil pressure due to failed oil filter or pump
3. Neglected engine lubricant causing oil passage blockage (sludge)
4. Poor quality engine oil for severe use like high rpm racing

Or 5. in the case of rod bearings.......detonation!
Of course there will be additional damage on top of the piston as well.

Don't know about you, but I love using 87 octane at 20 PSI of boost and WOT spark advance at 30*

Forget rod bearings....I'm going to port this block with windows! :lol1:
