I sometimes run NOS Race as recommended by Kenne Bell back when I installed a 2.2L on my old 5.0L. It does work, it does turn your plugs red, will foul them, and should only be used (in my opinion) as insurance, not as a crutch.

I have fouled out plugs being too greedy with octane boost, either by overmixing or using back-to-back.

Forgive the GM content, but the tech conclusions found at the end of this article are exactly what I have experienced and believe in:

I use octane boost if thumping on the car when it's overly hot, (all cars) or if I dial in another 2 degrees of timing on my street tune (GTS not the GT500) just to stave off any potential detonation for "Friday nights". I do not advocate using it to try for "race gas" style tunes on an everyday basis, I'm just not that adventurous.
