I am attempting to change my pads and rotors on my 03 terminator. I have wound the piston in as far as I think it will go. I have changed the rotor to a Baer rotor with stock calipers. The new pads seem to thick to get the caliper on. The old rotors which I assume are original on the car with 44k miles. The old rotor measures in at 17.21mm and the new rotor measures at 18.58mm. What am I missing here?

Need to turn the rear piston while pushing it in. Need a brake tool for this. Piston should be damn near flush with the rear part of the caliper.

The rears can be a little bit of a pain with the E-brake cable. Once the caliper is on the rotor, I start the top bolt. Use a pry bar or screw driver, stick it in near the lower bolt ear and pry down on the caliper, then you can start the second bolt. If not, you will be fighting with it for a while.

I have the tool but I think they are all the way in...

The pads I bought showed for SVT Cobra at the parts store on the computer. I didn't realize the GT pads are thicker either though.
I've seen it happen before. The calipers look like the piston is all the way in. You can sand the pads down to get them to fit.

Crazy question, do you happen to know the correct part number? What grit sandpaper would you suggest? I'm guessing just doing it by hand?

Those look fully retracted to me. Probably the GT vs. Cobra pad thickness issue. Cobra is 15mm thick, GT is 17mm. Even in 2024, parts are catalogued/labeled wrong all the time.

I cannot seem to find the correct part number. Even tried cross referencing with no luck..
