The land of commies and socialists!
There's talk of electronic "smart plates". They will have GPS and a data connection. It will solve the problem of older cars not having these speed limiters. If you speed, you will be issued a ticket through your
I wonder how long it will take for them to figure out they aren't working after water magically makes its way in?

My RS6 has cameras, etc. to detect speed limit signs. Does not work 100%. It especially misses the variable speed limit signs. I would 100% spray paint over the camera and disable GPS. My 1969 and 1987 vehicles will get a lot more miles on them.
Unrelated note does your state have red light recognition? I’ve only seen Audi with this feature but it only works in certain states/places

Prove who the driver was...
We just got speed cameras for work zones. Reads the plate, sends the registered owner a fine, no points. Only the plate is used for ticketing purposes. If you are 11mph over you get $150 ticket. 100mph over, still $150 ticket. I'm sure they are trying to change that.

You "can" contest it, but that's a huge ruse. In civil matters you are guilty until you prove your innocence. Get this... if you lease your car, you cannot contest it, only the legal owner of the car can. Leasee = not legal owner.

My wife's old 2021 Acura TLX seemed to frequently misread speed limit signs. Sometimes a 20mph sign would read as 75mph on her gauge cluster. One recent misread was a 40mph sign reading as 100mph. Occasionally when on I-95 when the speed limit was 65, her Acura would read the speed limit as 50 or 45. I wonder if the front cameras, if dirty, can cause a misread. Or is the speed sometimes GPS related. ??

That or trying to flee from a potential murderer or road rager. I see a lot of law suits in the future here that could potentially bankrupt a lot of companies.

Lawsuits in crooked courts of lib states (or lib cities in consrv. states) would be useless. They will claim somehow, you don't even have standing.

I heard on a podcast that CA introduced a bill for ALL cars to be installed with a limiter to prevent anything more than 10mph over.

Damn, in another decade muscle car people and real car enthusiasts will be outlaws and bandits.

They want full control. They will get it. Only a matter of time.

So the passing lane will be pointless then since most everyone will be maxed out at what it allows and when you try to pass all you will be able to do is match the other lane's speed. Road rage and traffic will increase as a result.

Just find the camera/lens sensor and cover it. If it cant read the speed limit sign, it cant function properly.
They’ll program the car to go into limp mode if it detects a code in the speed module. Code will pop up if it can’t read speed signs over a certain period of time or some other logic…

They won’t stop dude…accept it and keep your old cars as long as possible.

They have it is most cities here in Colorado... It's only available via subscription to Audi. Not really sure what the point of this feature is. I don't subscribe so I just watch the traffic light like I've done for decades. Works OK, I guess.

Dirty camera covers might have an impact. Most people's cars are filthy 90% of the time during winter in Colorado. I will say that this feature is part of Audi's smart cruise control system. I turned mine off when I was on a road trip and the car automatically SLAMMED on the brakes when the speed limit changed on the highway. Yeah, that's safe!

Interesting, my car is a lower trim then yours and I have it with no subscription ( to my knowledge ) I do find it gimmicky but use it all the time, I never wonder when the light is going to turn green because it gives the countdown.

This gimmick would be very useful in the stoplight races everyone lose to do lol

TLI is part of Audi Connect PRIME for my 2022 RS6. This was renamed Audi Connect PLUS and is $49 / month or $500 per year. Also part of this is a wifi hotspot, online radio (don't even know what this is), weather, google earth type views. Retarded cost for what I get with Android Auto for free plus traffic light countdowns. I guess the 2024+ models have remote start as part of this subscription. Totally dumb.

nothing new really though. It's probably been more than 15 years ago they said they were going to use our toll road transponders and based on your time between toll booths would issue speeding tickets. Everyone said they'd cancel their transponders and that all quickly went away

Always start with the easiest approach, right?

When I was a punk kid and was late on my inspection, I started with the simplest solution first. A handful of mud over the lower right portion of the windshield did the trick but if the sticker was too high and the mud would make it obvious? Easy! Out here the numbers resembled those stickers you'd put on a mailbox for your house number. One visit to the hardware store and and sharp razor blade to peel back the sticker and you were golden.
