You were suggesting the owners should pay them more just because they have more money, and it's "nothing to them". THAT is socialism.
If the owners voluntarily pays him more because he wants to win, or the player has the leverage to negotiate for it, or some other reason other than just because the owner has more money, then your example applies.
Perhaps my point is misconstrued then.
My point with regards to the owners is that when some high profile player harps about 10-15m or whatever, it's really nothing to these people to pay them. They aren't asking the organization for a lot of money when considering the income of the team through endorsements, tickets, etc.
With regards to players, they do have an edge when they have something to offer few others do. Not very many men can do what these guys do athletically. I get the general population of the NFL are not studs head and shoulders above everyone else. Those guys don't get paid like it either. But the guys that do, that's pure capitalism, and paying them what they want really means nothing to me. Complaining that it's "ridiculous" what they make is probably a more socialist idea than anything. Which people on SVTp do like to jab at their salaries etc.
