The thing that seems strange to me is that I can get a new one for a couple thousand more than 2020 used one...
I have been looking for an explorer/pilot for my dad. They are all under MSRP in Chicago, IN, Ohio, WI... basically the whole midwest. I don't know if this is explorer specific but there seem to be many reasonable deals, at least on relatively base 4wd models. Pilots are all under MSRP too.

True, it's just interesting.
I could literally ship him an endless amount of vehicles for 3-4k less than he has his listed for. If he's able to sell them for that, you could literally print money by buying them here and shipping them 4-500 miles south.
At least in my area it was "cheaper" to build.Have to wait till hopefully near December but I wasn't going to pay a higher markup for a house right away with options we didn't want. It's a weird time for sure, everything is priced really high. We are trying to buy a house and it's absolutely the worst time to do that but we have another kid on the way so it's time for us to upgrade as soon as we can. It is what it is. At least when it comes to buying my wife a Pilot later this year I get my employee rate which is set at XXX dollars over invoice. I won't be paying a markup. Not that I ever would on a Honda anyways.
I'm looking at a vehicle that you have listed on your website. You have this 2021 Explorer limited with 51,300 msrp listed for 48,050. Now, I don't know what you actually sell a vehicle like this for but I'm just showing that there are a ton of them up north for way under msrp.

Inflation is here. It’s going to be hell. Royal hell.
I know a dealer that 2 years ago sold an F-350 for $62k. They recently bought it back for $64k and reselling for $69k.
I bought my Ram 2500 for $57500 in 2018 and sold it 2 weeks ago private party for $62,500. And the most weird thing? The guy could not have been happier because it kept him from having to pay an even dumber price for a new truck. Craziness.
We've noticed that RAM owners are prospering the most out of the Big 3 in terms of trucks right now. Mostly contributed to their lower buy in point, and now the sell out points are all very similar.
Yeah, I’m screwed right now trying to replace my ‘07. I was considering a ‘14-15 model but damn.

Truth.
I ordered a new 2021 Dually last month for about 6% under invoice or 12% off MSRP.
Ram dealers seemed to be the only ones willing to deal---Catch is i will have to travel to pick up the truck once it arrives. Fine by me.. road trip home.
Is it mostly due to less supply or are there actually more buyers than usual compounding the problem? It'll be interesting to see if 3-4years down the road how underwater the people who are buying today will be.
