Hey Guys/Gals,

I have been browsing these forums for quite a while, and am a true Mustang Enthusiast. I figured it is about time I start a thread about my newest addition to the family.

A couple of days ago I saw this ad for an awesome deal for a White 04 Mach 1...I thought it was too good to be true, but it turned out to be the best deal I have ever gotten and I would like to thank the dude who put a Mach 1 within a budget I could afford. So I picked this bad boy up for $6100 and I have to re-assemble the motor (consisting of a Mach Aluminum Block and Cobra Internals), and get this baby running. So enough yammering...here's some pics. I'll post more info and pics later too.

Spend a little extra $ and have a reputable machine shop check out the all the engine parts before you assemble them. A little $ now could save you lots of $$$$ and headaches later.

And, nice purchase btw.

From what I understand the shortblock was just built by a reputable shop, and the heads were just finished having work done as well, everything is fresh! Dave, glad to see you over here, post up all the assembly pics BRAHHH!

So, as I said the engine consists of an aluminum Mach block, a Cobra Forged crank, Manley Forged Rods, and Cobra Forged Pistons. The heads were just done with new seals and a 5-angle valve job. I have thoroughly checked everything over, as this is not nearly my first build, just my first 4.6 build, and glad it is a 4v cause I wouldn't have it any other way. So here are a few more pics.

Hardest part so far is locating all the bolts that are in many different bags, most unlabeled, lol!
I'll leave you with a pic of my Notch frolicking in the sun with the Mach!

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!

So I got in the garage today and did a little more work. Truthfully, it was a little bit of a frustrating night. Started out with installing the oil pump pick-up tube and windage tray, had to find out how you hold it down and why there was so much space between the main cap stud and the pick-up tube bracket. I had an inkling it had something to do with those coupler looking spacers, so I finally found a picture that confirmed my theory. So that went fairly smooth. And the oil pan is on.

Next up was the intake manifold....Well, looked up the torque specs and it looked like the general consensus was 18 ft. lbs for the lower to the heads. To say the least, that has got to be too much because I snapped a bolt, had to remove it, get a new bolt and start over. So I figured I would try and do a step torque from 10 to 18, lol, another bolt snapped. Went and picked up a few extra bolts this time being I was frustrated and didn't want to keep running out. Now I was on my third time, so I stepped it from 10-15 this time figuring maybe the torque recommendation was too high, well, guess what happened, snap. Now I was really getting pissed. Went back to the drawing board after pulling 3 bolts out of the head. Found a guy that recommended 13 ft lbs, so I figured, I am going to step it from 10-13...YEY, it worked, it made me happy and now the lower is mounted up. Next up was the valve covers, first one went smooth, got to the second and found I was missing 3 Spark Plug Tube Seals..."Give up for tonight?", YES. Good thing I get parts at cost due to where I work, just a minor annoyance, but at least I am that much further to getting this bad boy running. On an up note I am going to order some Pacesetter Long Tubes!

Nice addition man! I don't know if you know this, but you have the lowest production Mach 1, ever! Only 512 manual 2004 Mach 1s produced, 697 total (auto and manual)! It's the rarest by 66 pieces, leading the SY '04 Mach 1s!

And for ~$6k, I'd say you got a steal, regardless of the engine need to be assembled and installed.

Hell yea Dave! Great to see you've got some drive into this project, I'm lovin it! Keep the pictures coming BRAHHH!

I know it's probably an inside thing since you two know each other, but what's with the "BRAHHH" all the time? :dw:

Hahaha I guess I never really noticed how much I type that, lol. Me, Dave, and JonBeast are all best friends and we say stupid shit on the forums. It's our way of communicating, lol.
