So last year I had to move into a little bigger place. My dad passed and my mother had to move in with us (Alzheimer's). So I lost my big garage and set out to build a new shop in the backyard of the new place.

It's still got a few things to go before being what I'd call complete. Little bit of plumbing, additional concrete pad for trailers, and of course some more benches and cabinets inside.

This is the garage on the house. Obviously too packed with my crap to do any work in.

This was after brick and pouring the driveway.

Used fiberglass insulation on the walls and open cell foam on the ceiling.

Just checking to make sure I could make the corner in the driveway and back the bus in.

Lights work!

The inside view from one of the front bay doors after the rock went up. The two post lift had already been installed as well.

I still have to get the 4 post lift over here and bring another couple of the cars back home. But this is the closest I've been to being back up and running with my home shop so I'm pretty excited! I had a couple of very good buddies help me along the way. Couldn't have done it without them...believe me, if I'd have been responsible alone it would've fallen over by now.

As soon as my kids go off to college I'm moving out of suberbia and doing the same.

In the second photo....is the new driveway sloped such that runoff will be carried to the pool or is the perspective just misleading?

Gotta be perspective. It's pouring rain today and all the runoff is going to the outside fence. That and the deck of the pool is just higher than the concrete itself.

I had all kinds of trouble with all the subs on this job....except the concrete guy. He was the best. Quality work and affordable...for around here at least.

I've worked in commercial construction for just short of 30 yrs. I poured quite a bit of concrete and my eyes are always drawn to that first. Good to hear you were happy with it. You've done well and that is a beautiful place.

I get a kick out of the little dog too.
