why do i only see the most recent 99 posts?

That would not help at all. Definitely use the search function. It's there for a reason. Not using it only results in more duplicate threads. IMO seeing the last 99 posts is not a biggie. That surely satisfies the needs of most, and I totally understand why there is a limit of 99.

Yep, I think it's increased to 500.

Exactly unless you are searching PIIHB, Solstice, or $65,000. Although if you go through all 99 posts your really wasting your time anyway.
