Seriously? The beignets are great. I get them at a minimum monthly.

OP For reasonably priced seafood you can go to Bucktown and go to Deanie's seafood. The 1/2 platter will feed atleast 2 people. Actually they have on in the 1/4 area on Iberville. http://www.deanies.com/

Also if you head to Metairie, you can go to Bobby Hebert's Cajun Cannon restaurant. Food is really good, being a home town brat I get the simple but great red beans and rice with a fried chicken breast. They have great drinks also.

Commander's you'll need a reservation so book it soon. You can also go try Redfish grill which is on the far end of Bourbon.

I saw you have ACME oyster house on your list. If you're looking for charbroiled oysters skip them and take a cab to Fat City and eat at Drago's. You'll thank me. http://www.dragosrestaurant.com/

I always recommend a trip across the lake to the north shore and tour the Abita Brewery.

BTW, when are you coming to town?

As mentioned above, you must hit Dragos for the oysters. Unreal.

Which Drago's is better? The one at the Hilton or in Metairie?

It is less than 2 blocks from Dasiy dukes.

Make sure you go a block behind the W to Decatur and go to Clare's pour house.
Tell Clare we said hello. lol
What's your plans Thursday? I may be able to run down there for a bit.

Went there twice in the early to mid 90's. I remember narrow ass streets and some cool zydeco music blaring everywhere we walked. It seemed kinda dirty and overhyped to me. Even though I live in Texas, I really have no desire to go back again.

We got home Saturday eve. Sadly I didn't get time to see Barry. Some of the spots we hit:

Oceana (late night dinner after getting into the hotel around 11pm, solid Po Boy and 3 hurricanes each)
Acme Oysters (grilled were tasty, but a little gritty. Great softshell crab)
Emeril's New Orleans (the one in the Warehouse District - amazing fried chicken and gumbo)
Cafe Dumonde (twice - 2 females with me lol)
Commander's Palace (favorite gumbo and bananas's foster)
K-Paul's (shrimp etouffee might be my favorite meal of the trip)
Cajun Pride Swamp Tour (Manchac Swamp - cool story of the town being wiped out, expected bigger gators)
Drunk History Tour (awesome evening tour of the Quarter with some ghost/vampire stories, the guide was a blast)
Ice House Bar at Hotel Provencal (best hurricane of the trip)
Lafitte's Blacksmith Bar
Hotel Monteleone (carousel bar x2)
Tropical Isle (a few hand grenades)

Didn't make it to Drago's, ran out of time before the tour on Thursday. Also missed Pat O' Brien's. Had a much better time than expected and am definitely planning on going back. The weather was perfect the days I was there.

I don't know how to edit on the new Forum. We also went to Lafayette Cemetery #1 and the WWII Museum. The museum was well worth the trip/time. So well put together and pretty moving at times. One of the best museums I've seen.
