I'm sure a lot of you know that Apple announced their new line-up of iPhones yesterday. And if you haven't, now you do. I don't typically care but... is it me or is the iPhone 12 not much different than the iPhone 12 Pro? Seems like they should have more separation.
I’ll be getting my wife the 12 Pro Max and taking her 11 Pro Max. And the cycle continues. Also getting the new Home Pod Mini. Always wanted a Home Pod but couldn’t justify the price.
Are they ever really that different from generation to generation? Sure maybe the early ones were as cell phone technology advanced rapidly, but nowadays I feel like all they really do is add some feature(s) most of us will never use. Oh, and charge more depending what color it is. Apple is just like Subaru in that they really only make one product; it just varies in size.
the article I saw yesterday said part of the reason was certain markets where a $25 price difference was huge, here it's nothing. I'll definitely be upgrading, need to dump this 6S lol, wondering if the 11 pro stuff will fall off in price, not sure how much premium the 5g service is worth
I got over the yearly upgrades. Not spending 1.5k yearly on a phone just for a slight bump on specs. Recently upgraded from a 7 plus to an SE and it works for me
I'm still rocking the iPhone 7 so I'm not a cycler like you lol. But it's time for an upgrade, so I'm getting something. Generation to generation we see improvements sure, but I'm talking about this 12th gen inter-model. Chip is the same, the main dual camera is the same, video capabilities is mostly the same, screen is the same, battery same blah blah blah. Main differences that stand out to me are the extra telephoto camera, lidar and unique color options.
My wife me phone is the family camera. With 3 kids, 2 dogs, and an very handsome husband, she’s got lots of pics to take. So it’s worth it for us for the camera upgrades. Plus, we buy the AppleCare+. So both phones are always protected. If it was up to me, I’d probably just buy the 12 Mini. But doing it this way means she has the latest and greatest every year, is the envy of all her friends, and I get a new (to me) phone every year too. So it all works out.
key difference between the 12 and the 12 pro is the cameras, and screen size i believe?. the main upgrade this year was the 5G internet. for most people LTE is perfectly fine except for those times where you're in a crowded area. 5G is supposed to alleviate that with more capacity.
I'll probably take a serious look at upgrading now that it has 5G (maybe I'll get to use it someday) and an OLED screen. I'm rocking a 6S Plus and I'm guessing this will be the last year that it will qualify for iOS upgrades.
Go back to work Tyler, we all know you're a Google phone guy! They must not have auto correct Damn, a fellow hold out. Older phone than me! 5G across all the 12th gen iPhones is a big plus. Apple dropped my '09 unibody MacBook Pro from updates a few years ago lol. I would upgrade but it's just as fast as the new ones since I converted it to a SSD for the OS.
Looks like a larger iPhone 5. I'll keep my Rose Gold XS Max until battery life goes to shit. Yes Rose Gold lol.
Yeah, I haven't seen the point of upgrading. The phone works fine with the exception of getting the battery replaced and nothing since now has really caught my interest and made it worth the cost of updating.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned (or thought it was important) that the iPhone 12 Max Pro is bigger than the 11 Max Pro. It's increasing from 6.5" to 6.7". Not a huge difference, but enough to make some decide to keep their 11 Max Pro because the 12 Max Pro is more cumbersome to hold, depending on your hand size. Here are photos of each. iPhone 11 MaxPro...iPhone 12 MaxPro 12 Max Pro........11 Max Pro.......11 Pro (?) * There's a new/replacement color - Pacific Blue (Midnight Green is gone). * Ceramic Shield vs Gorilla Glass. * 5G connectivity (limited to cities that have 5G) that may not be available in your area. * Faster A14 chipset The 12 Max Pro camera is supposed to be better. I'm quite happy with my 11 Max Pro camera.
Agreed. I just bought an SE for my 15 yr/old son for Christmas. Everything I've read, it should be a great way to get into a budget iphone. Very similar to a iphone 8 but with the same processor as a iphone 11.
Everyone said don’t get the 11 pro the 12 will be revolutionary. No notch, 120 refresh, better camera yada yada. The 12 is nothing haha. Oh they took the charger and earbuds away to save packaging only to use more packaging when everyone buys them individually. Purely a revenue move.
Michael, I wouldn't say the 12 Pro/Max Pro is "nothing". It might not be as "new" as many had hoped for, but it's definitely got some good upgrades from the 11. Whether or not it's smart to move from the 11 Pro/Max Pro to the 12 Pro/MaxPro is up to the buyer. Like I said earlier, I'm planning on sticking with my 11 Max Pro. A personal choice.
