I run a Dell 5760 Mobile Precision. Mostly do Solidworks and AutoCAD with it. Use it for some pretty big files and it handles it own really well. I actually bought it off the dell certified refurb site as a scratch and dent. About 50% discount with full 4 year warranty. Its light and travels well too as I take it home daily and all work trips too.

Did you make any compromises with that choice??? My personal laptop is about the same age.

I don't feel like I made any compromises. My old Lenovo has 16 GB RAM, so the AlienWare coming with 16 GB also isn't a step up. The 14" screen may feel small, but most of the time I will be docked with my 34" monitor so that wasn't a real concern.

If you read the reviews for that laptop on the site I linked, you will see some pretty in depth benchmark testing with impressive results.

Well, just because everyone likes seeing bad things happen to good people.

Waited 10 days for this.. packing list was supposed to get a 330W powercord

Instead, I got a 240W.

Guess, I'll borrow my wifes, 300W cord. Lol

Slight bump as this thread spiked my interest in the alienware lineup.

M18 4080 rtx 32gig qhd i9 for 2700 pre tax I believe. Should get here tomorrow.

Was debating the 4090 but kept reading that the jump from 4080 to 4090 was within 10%
But a huge difference from 4070 to 4080
