Lol....He is in a strip mall but not a real crowded area. Plus a Giant grocery store and a Rita's ice right next to him.

It has its ups and downs. But at the end of the day, it can be a very profitable brand if you are willing to put in some big hours

Yes. My friend puts in huge hours 7 days a week. He can't find good people in his area that are dependable to work. Of course they are all young mostly just out of HS kids so most of them are not very reliable. You are not going to find many adults to work for min wage in that area.

The trick is, you got to pay above minimum wage to get decent employees.

My father has 6-7 or so employees that have worked for him for 10/15+ years. You got to pay for people that you can trust.

He can't afford to and trusts himself mostly. You are in an area where you can find good trustworthy people. Its more difficult in that area. His treat only store does not bring in near the income that a Grill n Chill like yours brings in. Most of his days are very low in income.

We have 2 mall stores, one of which is an outdoor mall.

In the winter, we have days under $100 in sales. You work 1 person shifts.

You lose at least 50-150 a day just keeping it open

Yes that is him in a strip mall store and some days are that bad. He is the 1 person shift unfortunate for him. Its long hours for him to keep that DQ running.

My dad used to be on that grind back in the day. He is 68 now and has stepped back a bit.

Our mall stores gross around 500k

That is great. My friend is almost 60 and wants to be done in 5 years when he will sell the DQ. His single store only does around 150K a year which is not great considering the costs to run the store.

I think that we should add + DQ to the thread title. And some clever puns about a blizzard.
