So I was telling my neighbor about my upcoming race this Friday against my buddy's wrx at the track and he was telling me how his BMW m5 could beat my car and I said you should come down to the track and he said he does not race at the drag strip and blah blah

Does anyone know if this would be a good race I know this is my second similar post but unfortunately he won't give me the chance to find out for sure so in just wondering

My mods again are

CAI
2.760 upper
X pipe and cat back
Short shifter
Chip and tune made 473 hp 454tq
I'm on stock tires

I just want a non bias answer I don't care if his car is faster I'm just curious oh and he has no mods and it's 2004

Year of the BMW would help.

Regardless i dont think its a race. You probably have some sort of sport compound tire and hes probably running some eco tire. The M5 is also very heavy and if its a 00+ i know theyre clutches and gear box is sloppy. Just be nice smile and walk away.

Is the E60?....2013 model

Still wouldnt be afraid of that. I smacked a 2012 C63 AMG twin turbo. These cars arent built for that. Id be careful if it was a 335 though. People are starting to see the potential in those for being a sport coupe with twin turbos and rated low. Couple of paychecks later and they can be worthy competition

Yeah you just never know now a days I mean I know my mustang is fast but I don't want to eat my words by saying its faster than someone else not that it matters a whole lot it's a game of who has the most money but damn you get good dollar to hp ratio with these cars !

OP,

Number one rule of street racing is to know what your own car is capable of with you at the wheel.

Judging by your 2 threads you have posted, I don't think you have run your car yet to get a time. The members are telling you what you can run based on mods. What if you can't drive it to that full potential yet? Or what if your car isn't 100%...example being a weak IC pump and the ECM pulling timing due to high IAT2?

You need to run it somewhere and get a feel for what she and you can do together. If you can't make it to the strip at least download a phone app and get some GPS based performance times. That way you know for sure what you are capable of. Then it's as simple as an educated guess as to what your opponent can do.

Good luck!

But hopefully my car is pretty sound it's low miles and I had it checked over by 2 ase certified master techs before I bought it then mike Roush at mid Atlantic performance tuned it for me and checked it over so I think it's ready for the strip !

practice hitting 3rd on the T56 will pay off, its less forgiving than the old T-5's in the foxbodies....I remember switching my foxbody to T56, it was a new learning curve knowing what rpms you can be at in each gear, ready for an opponent.

Buy tires....next time someone says they will beat you, tell them to drop the shit, get their keys, and line em up.

I think that would be a good race and that with your mods you would beat him in the "quarter". but you will need to be able to launch your car well without spinning. buy drag radials or some super sticky tires!
