hello,

first id like to say how amazing it has been talking to john and having him build my engine. he is an awesome person to talk to and has great customer service!

This is really the first time ive made a thread about my car. John is almost finished building the engine and he has sent me some pictures which have gotten me excited so i figured i would make a thread with them. and the progress of the car since it should be picking up here quickly. here is a lil rundown.

the engine is built by john tymensky of modular performance. i bought my cobra (this is my second e green cobra) last year in january. about 3 months later i spun a rod bearing at the track. for about 6 months i debated on so many options for the car. i was originaly thinking 324 bb/stroker. then todd and john told me about the 358 john had built and had for sale. it originally was above 13 compression and had aluminum rods and was run with a carb and distributor. i wanted the engine to be a little more long term and street able. so john and i discussed it and decided to run a forged rod forged crank and some 11.1 comression pistons.

GT "supercar" aluminum 5.4 block sleeved to 94mm 358 ci
gt500 forged crank
modmax forged rods
diamond pistons.
all arp hardware
block was machined to accept a wet sump oil pump. melling pump

5.4 sullivan intake port matched to the heads

GT "supercar" heads with oversize valves
custom cams by john tymensky... john knows the specs. when we talked it was gonna be in the relm of a 250ish duration. only he knows the actual specs of the cams.

any how the car the engine is going into is a 99 e green cobra.
i put a built rear in it. 8.8 with 9 inch housing ends. straigtened and welded tubes and tube braces. detroit tru trac diff with 4.56 gears. 31 spline moser axles. low profile diff cover. upr anti roll bar with adjustable uppers and lowers all solid bushings. qa1 double adjustable rear shocks.

the trans for the time being will be a bob hanlon built t56. i plan to run an auto in the future but i would like to enjoy driving my car for the year before i do.

2 weeks from the today is the apointment for the 10 point cage being fabricated by J&E performance in blackwood NJ.

front suspension is a aje k member and coil over kit with 14 175 springs and strange adjustable struts.

the car has been lightened quite a bit and im hoping to see low 10's on the high side.

anyway here are a few pics of the engine that john has sent me.

anyway if anyone has any questions feel free to ask im super excited for this to be finished. im also open to any advice anyone would like to give me based on anything they might see they would do a lil differently in the setup.
i know what john said the engine should do but im not gonna say untill its tuned and running. i will be running this car EFI.

thank you for you time

Damn. And I told my wife I wouldn't look at porn anymore.

John is the man. He did my 324 and I love it. He knows his cams too, so if you told him what you wanted from the car, you'll get just that. If I ever get to road trip through MI, I'm going to stop by and shake his hand.

Since you went pretty much all out, why no 00R intake?

i never really considered it. what are the pros and cons of the 00R over the sullivan. john ran the engine with the sullivan and i liked the fact that i can run direct port with the sullivan. john lowered the ring lands to make the engine nitrous friendly :)

id have to ask john what valve springs. if i had to guess id say livernois but i really cant be certain. i let john take care of that

I've seen the 358ci that you are talking about from MP..that thing is serious business.

Can't wait to see how yours will turn out! NA motors are absolutely raw.

Not sure if the 00R has any benefits over the Sullivan actually. I just think it's cool.

The midrange is going to be better with the 00R. On a 5.4 they fall off 6500 ish. On a 358 likely 6000 ish? Would be a heck of a street car.

A sully on a 5.4 might be a touch peaky, but I'd imagine the extra cubes of the 358 would make a very nice driver (with gears) and a real animal on the track.

OP post a dyno up when it's all setup.
