So just came across this image in an automotive article about Ford brands. Thought it was interesting as I don't remember ever seeing anything about this. I have to say, cutting the panther platform up and making it topless in this case works out nicely. Not a ton of info available but the concept was a nice idea. Who knows about sales volume but there's a market for eveything.

There's LOTS of info about it...many know more than me but some details are:

* Concept shown at (I think) Chicago Car Show in 2001 or 2002
* NOT built to be road worthy or to ever be titled/licensed as it lacked critical framework structure
* eventually found itself out and owned by someone following the demise of the Mercury Brand
( that person or the next?) made it (supposedly) road-worthy and got it titled.

It was not the only showing of a MARAUDER variant there was also the S55 Concept shown in 2003
Many MARAUDER owners (like myself) were inspired and incorporated design cues from THIS to our MARAUDER ie red accents, unique taillight/reverse light painting etc,

BTW...MANY don't realize/understand that it was ENVIRONMENTAL STUPIDITY that was the demise of the Panther Platform (the LAST body on frame platform in the WORLD...and probably some of the GREATEST cars EVER produced Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis & Town Car)...due to U.S. Government CAFE Restrictions and Environmentalists Pressure that the platform was discontinued.

yeah being a marauder owner myself i think that would be horrific. Being a sedan is the entire reason why I even got the car.

Sad that car became a tin can, but I have the gauge cluster installed in my own car
