Ok, noob question, what is the best launch strategy for an all original Terminator? This is my first stick in 20 years, and it feel completely different from my 84 5-speed GT, and of course different from my more recent 03 auto Mach1. I know they are supposed to be able to do 0-60 in almost 5 seconds, but I can't seem to get below 7 sec on my best launch and I'm sure it is my fault for not knowing how to get the most out of it.
My car is completely original except for the BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S Plus tires. I know, not exactly performance tires, but it is what I have.
Should I be launching at high rpms and accepting a bit of spin, or launch with minimal spin? At what rpm should I shift to 2nd, 3rd, etc...6k, 6.5k, higher rpms? I know every car is different, but there have to be some kind of best practices I could build from.
