get short block hydro tested and magnafluxed. Get 331 stroker rotating assembly for $2.5k. Get installed in short block if you can't do the work yourself. Get blue-printed and balanced. Put stage III N/A vt cams in heads, and put heads on shortblock yourself. Put engine back in car yourself. You can do all this under $5k and have a bulletproof engine. with a power adder you can make an easy 600rwhp+ depending on your fuel setup.

Congrats...I think? lol A stock 2V blowing can be a blessing in disguise. No more being limited to 400+rwhp. FWIW, my stock motor held up like a champ, putting down a measly 428rwhp/433rwtq @ 9 PSI. If you can't afford a blower upgrade the nitrous would a good alternative.

When i can afford a blower upgrade ill prob end up getting a 2.6, im scared of nitrous personally! Am i going to need a tranny upgrade soon if im running more than 400rwhp?

What tranny do you have? My t56 w/26 spline input shaft is holding up well. Can't say the same for my old stock 4R70W auto. That couldn't even handle 360rwhp.

Well it finally poped, it was about 40 degrees out today, i hoped on the freeway for a little 2nd gear pull. I brought the RPM's up and when i was about to shift into 3rd, i heard the motor blow, the whole car shut off, and smoke filled the entire inside and outside of the car, i pulled over and oil was everywhere, i tried to restart the car and it just knocks hard, then falls on its face and turns off. I was running 412hp and 406TQ since march 07. What do i do now? New shortblock or rip into the engine and replace everything? Thanks Guys!

If you blew the engine, you may have hurt more than just the short block.

I have the stock tranny that came with the car i believe the 3650 5-speed

good luck driving it with that. The next thing blowing up is your tranny. That transmission is only good till about 400rwtq. And change that cast iron crank, whats the point in running a forged bottom end if the most important piece isnt forged?

keep in mind that the MMR 4.6 Street Mod 600 (up to 600HP) SB that you just baught was measured on an engine dyno. due to paracidic (SP) power loss that short block you purchased is actually not rated at 600HP. at least thats what my shop told me. i would be very careful if you later down the road upgrade to the 2.6H. good luck on getting her back up and running. man i remember when you got that KB.

Ya i have read up on the cast crank, and for what what i am doing on the street i cannot see it failing, even if a do get over 600HP. I dont spin the engine past 5500 rpms, and have never heard of a cast crank breaking because of too much HP, its the people spinning the engine to high is what makes them break. As far as the Mod 600 motor i have heard people have gone in the 700RwHP territory with no problems what so ever.

So what causes more issues on stock internals. Over 400rwhp or over 400rwtq?
Does a roots type blower cause more strain on the engine when compared to a vortech or procharger type?

saleenmuscle18, Just out of curiosity, what kinda of air fuel ratios were you running?

whats the point in keeping something that breaks anyway? Even if you dont spin it past 5500rpms it doesnt mean it wont break, if your spending all this money do it right the first time and invest in a forged crank. They arent that much money man. Hell i got a new 04 cobra crank on ebay for 391$. Also your going to want to get a 6 speed as those 5 speeds no matter what you do to them will break anyway.

New crank= new flywheel also correct? My budget is pretty tight right now, and ill be keeping my Little 1.7 till i can afford bigger and better. Like i said i have never heard of a cast crank breaking because of to much HP. Its the rpms that break them, so i am not to worried.

If a t56 6-speed isnt an option for you, I'd suggest getting a TKO-500. It's not THAT expensive, and swapping your 3650 to a TKO is pretty straightforward.

I have been searching through a couple forums, and it seems like the 3650 is pretty strong as long as you dont powershift it, or lanch hard. Seems like most people just break the input shafts, some guy was running over 700hp and tq through this tranny! But if it does fail, ill look at that tranny

Why would you get a 6 speed and add more unneeded weight??

ya i think you'll be fine with your 3650, all i'm doing is upgrading to a 26 spline input shaft and i think i'll be fine, getting mine from http://www.promotionpowertrain.com/
