Wow, two very important things that people keep overlooking is LandNav and Rucking. These are two of the things that weed most people out. If you come in and don't know how to do LandNav before hand you are going to be at a major disadvantage as it takes practice to become proficient at it. If you haven't been rucking then when you get to SFAS and they tell you "go" you're going to be in for a rude awakening when you find yourself going for 12 maybe 15 miles. You have to build your feet up and your body because rucking with all that weight will take some time to get use to.

You do not need to be able to run 2 miles in 11 minutes flat. But PT should be taken seriously. The percent passing score was 78% for those who score 276 or higher on the APFT. The percent passing score was 81% for those who could perform a 4-mile ruckmarch in battle dress uniform (BDU), boots, M-16, load bearing equipment, and a 45-pound rucksack. So this gives you an idea of where you need to be. But it is a lot more than that. As was mentioned by others it is a lot of mental and everything you do you be graded. If you all are on a break and you are the last one to get up when its time to move out the cadre will take note of it. Or if you are always complaining they will take note of it. Peer evaluations are just that...what your peers think of you. If too many of your peers give you negative ratings you could find yourself being restarted or dropped from training completely.

You can never educate yourself enough to be better prepared. Read this:
