Currently have Synchromesh in my T56. Before that I ran Coastal Brand ATF. The trans shifted the same with the regular stuff as it does with the fancy stuff.
Well, I drained all the old oil. Then refilled with 4 qts of fresh Chevron MD-3 fluid. I poured the old fluid back into the empty quart bottles of fresh fluid there was more than 4 qts in the transmission, seemed like close to 5 or maybe a little more. Not sure if that was the issue, i dont know. I find it odd though.
Funny that GM and Ford spec different fluids for the same transmission. Magnums seem to be a little pickier with cheap fluid when cold.

I tightened the cable and changed the fluid, I don’t have an issue anymore. Also went MGW
