We started with Purina Pro-Plan Select (Salmon) and ended up going with Costco's Kirkland Dog food (both are below) both rate high on the chart, but the Costco Brand (Kirkland) is way more affordable

Purina Pro Plan Select was $44.99 for 33 lbs
Costco Kirkland Brand Adult $23.99 for 40 lbs

Costco's Kirkland brand dog bisquits are really good for them too!

I vouched for a different food, since I have 3 Great Danes of my own, and when I find one in a kill shelter, I go and rescue it, along with whatever
foster dog may need a home at the time til it gets where its going, so saving on their food is huge!

Thanks for posting this up. I have my dogs on the Royal Canine food and always wondered how the Kirkland brand(Better Deal) stacked against other name brand dog food.

This is what my cats get, good to know.

its good info to have on hand, I added it to another thread, and figured why not start one for people to see.
This is a dog food chart, but I know their food is good, back when I had my persian kittens, the breeder gave me a
chart like this.

yeah this is the ONLY store brand that I have seen score above most of the big name foods, and yes a GREAT savings! My danes have nice lean muscle, this food won't get them all chubby, (they are on senior) because the Costco Kirkland Senior has 1100 mg of glucosamine (higher then any brand I have seen) and this is great for large dogs even as young as 2, it gives them good joint health from the beginning.

I rotate between EVO Red Meat and Solid Gold Barking at the Moon. If I don't use a really high protein food, my boxer is just skin and bones.

My Bengal can't process corn products, so she'd have serious development and digestive issues on standard cat food. It's expensive, but it's worth it. My old American Shorthair went from Purina One to the Innova and even he looks better.

My puppies get Authority, however, it is not the harvest bake. Next time I will pick them that up.

Same with my boxer when he was really young. He didn't tolerate grains too well and was constantly having loose stool. Once he was old enough to switch to a high protein/grainless food I switched and live has been much better.

+1 I feed EVO Red Meat formula. It's hard to keep weight on the dobie unless it's a high protein food. I've been considering RAW too but I don't know how I feel about having to clean up after that.

Oh boy, I've been feeding my dog Beniful since she was a pup. I'm a horrible father. Looks like it's time to switch. She needs a diet/healthy weight type because she's a chunker. Thanks for posting.

My black dane was severely emaciated when I pulled him from the kill shelter,
even the vet thought he might not make it, and the pics below will show what
Costco's kirkland brand has done for him (amazing) even the vet was in shock.
His coat was in awful shape too :nonono:

In the last 2 pics you will see an confident and very happy Ozzy :)

no problem, I can see how so many commercials etc. are deceiving, when we started out with our first dane in 2000 we were feeding Purina dog food :rollseyes and found there was so much better, Good Luck, let me know how it works out.
