If I get cams dont I have to get valve springs as well? And what cams should I get like the comp cams #106100 or #106360? Or any other brand or cams in specific?

Get that side exit exhaust off and by a catback kit of your choice.
Shifter, MM CC Plates, look into frame stiffening, better front rotors and pads..

shifter and stifflers fit system.

NA power mods for later:
degree cams FOR TDC if under ~270 rwhp
tune
headers/mid/mufflers
ud pulleys with damper
should get you ~320 rwhp

EDIT: then..
comp cams
ported 10.5" short runner intake
39#+ injectors/FP/90mm MAF
retune
~360-370 rwhp

Then
5.0L stoker short block (3.55 X 3.75)
5.15 BB/stroker MMR block (3.7 X 3.6)
5.3 BB/stroker block (3.7 X 3.75)
~400 to 500 rwhp

I concur with all but the no to the headers.

All Cams do not require new valve springs.

Send money to me... Oh wait that wasn't an option lol

Definitely a shifter, not just any shifter an MGW. Definitely get subframe connectors you'll love how they stiffen the car up. Those two are a must regardless of anything else. I'd also invest in a set of drag radials, you'd be amazed what a good set of tires can do on a sub 300 horse car, it can surprise a lot of people.

What are your ultimate goals for the car, if we know that we can better point you in the right direction on where the money could be spent, but I think those 3 items would make a world of difference in how the car feels to you.

Well I use my car mostly at the 1/4 mile drags strip but only once or twice a month ...Occasionally a co-worker talks me into autocross. That's basically it.

106100's from comp would be the best choice, but labor would put you well over your 1,200 dollar budget.

I'm okay wuth underdrive pulleys (hydraboost and water pump) for this combo. The small diameter damper should not be added if he's gonna go FI later.

I said to the mail order tune because a dyno tune is mucho better.
