I have spent upwards of 10K on my cobra and numerous hours in the garage installing the parts and never place in local car shows. So who wins at these shows? Of course the president of the mustang club always wins. A tall pretty blond with a 07 Shelby GT also won. All she did to the car was install some pretty reservoir caps. I guess it revolves on who you know. No more local car shows for me.

Ahhh dont sweat it man. I feel like I put more time and money in my car than a lot of other people yet dont get the acknowledgement I should.

I agree though, most of the time I feel like the wrong cars win car shows.

Some of these shows are "FIXED". You may have the nicest car there and the biggest P.O.S wins. It don't make a damn bit of sense.

Who cares about a local car show?
The average person doesn't even know cobras exist other than the GT500.
Around here, if I tell people I have a cobra, they always assume its a Shelby.

Car shows, in the competition aspect, are dumb.
The ones I have been to, whoever has the newest ride wins. Then they go online and brag about it like it's some accomplishment.

Eh.. I don't get why you are getting so upset.

I see what you mean but it would not upset me the slightest.

Typically, near where I grew up, it would be something close to stock or stock that would win.

For example, I was at one a few years back and a stock 10' Camaro SS won. It beat out a lot of really nice modified cars.

If the entry form has a spot to check "car club affiliation"....and you're not a member of any the clubs at the event...just drive away. Checking "NA" usually translates "thanks for the entry fee donation...but you ain't winning" :kaboom::-D

Everytime I go to shows like that I usually just leave before the trophies are given out. I never bring my car in hopes of winning though just because I know I'll never win. It's definitely about who you know.

the local shows are really only good for taking the kids to to get them involved in the hobby. I do this with my daughters and they have learned to appreciate a wide range of vehicles. I never sweat it about winning ribbons or trophies and neither should you as it really is not a big deal (though it does suck that hard work and attention to detail doesn't draw the respect and praise it should :( ). I just spend my time wondering if we are going to win the 50/50 or one of the raffle prizes. I got a lot of car polishes this way :)

I just came from a car show with my new Shelby yesterday. I left before the judging ever began. I go cause my son loves these things. Also, I get to bullshit about cars for a entire day with other people. Typically with a new car you aren't going to win anything anyways.

My 04 cobra was done up. I had carbon fiber and chromed the entire motor. It won many trophies. But, lost more than I ever won. I remember a stock 03 cobra, nothing done to the car beat mine out. The guy happened to be a judge and a member of the club holding the contest. Me and my son just laughed. Don't sweat it man, just go to talk to the other car enthusiasts and have a good time.

That is crazy. The shows I go to have classes so that the modified doesn't get stuck with the cars that just came off the lot. Also they are subdivided by years. I understand where you are coming from though. I usually would just go to meet people and talk about my ride. Didn't really care about winning.

Most car shows are more about how clean the car is not whats done to it.

I have a ton in my car, and always lose to cars with nothing done
