I'm just wondering what all it takes in order to reach 500 rwhp on the 5.0's.
Current mods: T-56 Magnum, 1 piece aluminum ds, Kooks 1 7/8 LT, kooks O/R X pipe, CJ intake manifold, ford racing cai, monoblade, jon lund tune, and a few suspension mods. As of yet I've not been dynoed. Also debating what gears to get: 3.73, 3.90, 4.10.

Definitely stage 3 cams & E-85 will get you close, and maybe head porting, and don't buy Motive gears unless you want more parts in your rear than you started with! I would like to be there myself, so we'll se who chimes in.

You'll need FTW purple, comp cams stage 2 or 3, cobra jet intake, scj throttle body, kooks headers and boss heads. That will get you really close.

That would be a fun ride! 500 rwhp though the lil 302. There would be some butthurt 6 plus liter folks. I'm subscribed.

Just bump up the limiter. The coyote stock class guys dyno 420-440whp stock by upping the Rev limiter. The motor can handle it.

With that t56 you'll want alot more gear. Like 4.88 or 5.14s. I wouldn't go any higher (lower numerically) then 4.88s on an NA setup

I'm sitting at 474rwhp with stock cams and FTW gas.. I'm also using a 6R80 auto and 3.31 gears.. if I had a stick car that would have been around 490 I would think..

This ultimately what my plans are for my pony. I have Boss 302 IM and getting American Racing LT Headers 1 7/8 and mid pipe installed in the spring. By the end of summer I'm going to install Stage 3 Comp Cams with a Lund Racing tune. Should be close to 500 rwhp. :)

I will be back on the dyno with my ported CJ setup by end of the month and I'll let you know how close I get to the 500 mark with pump 91 and a separate race gas tune as well I made 448wrhp with my ported boss and lm82 setup
my current setup is dynotech 1-7/8 long tubes and x-pipe full 3" exhaust ported CJ manifold, monoblade TB and frpp cold air kit. hopping for 470ish on pump and close to 500 on the race gas.
But to be back on topic I think ported heads, and custom ground cams to make 500hp on pump can be done.

Depends on how you drive. With the magnum I'd go 4.10s with that rear and than Trans it will be like driving an mt82 with 3.55s. A buddy of mine got near 510 on his cj set up. Think he was running stage 3 cams, boss heads boss rotating assembly, e85, ported cj, scj mono blade, and rev auto cai. Think that's it but I might be missing something. His car was nasty

And what gears you should run really depends on what you want to do with the car., and what size tires your going to run. I'm running 5.14's with magnum

4.10s would be more like 3.15s. 4.88 is in between a 3.55 and 3.73

I run the magnum 2.66 and it works best with 4.10's for sure (race car). I went through some taller gears before settling on 4.10s. Anything shorter and you'll give up too much wheel speed (for my needs at least).

3.15 gear w MT82 is good for Texas mile NA 5th gear 1:1 runs that's why I did it but you will slow down in the 1/4 mile.

Example: 5th gear with a 3.15 axle, 7200 rpm with a shorter 26.5" road race tire results in 180mph. That's just about the aero speed limit for NA coyote. Add the tiger hood and that can increase due to reduced drag.

Doesn't all these mods eventually may result in increasing the chances of the #8 piston failure unless the engine is beefed up with forged internals?
