Any new ideas?

Has anyone tried the CF tranny tunnel from MMR? They claim 75+. Their new trunk isn't a bad idea either. That's a 100lbs, not cheap but it should be something noticeable

Axle weights are not 8lbs each they are maybe 3lbs at best. I took them off my car and weighed them.

I agree unless there are elephantiasis versions. Just took mine off. Surprised they're not symmetrical.

Looking forward to putting on an aluminum ds next weekend.

JPC makes lightweight bumper supports that replace the bulky front and rear pieces. The windshield washer fluid and resevior is about 10lbs. Engine and coil covers are worth a few pounds. Odessey lightweight battery saves a good bit of weight, and I haven't had any trouble with the one in my car. There's lots of weight to be found, you just have to look for it!

Sorry to bump a 6 month old thread but I'm excited about cutting off my new found donkey balls.

Ha! Thanks for the pic...and worth a bump. The SN95 donkey balls were worthless...

That bumper bar looks nice, but I'm not sure about it providing support where the original foam does.

There are some useless acoustical mats in the front fenders...I only know because mine fell out on the passenger side. :nonono:

Here comprehensive list I thought of, and its not cheap.

JPC Front and Rear Bumper Supports - 20# 300$ (Have these)
Braille Battery: 18# 230$ (ordering this)
UPR K-member - 26# 450$ (in future plans)
Corbeau CR1 seats - 40-50# is depending on your stock seat type 800$ (in future plans)
Rear Seat Delete - 20# 150$
Alum DS - 19# - $600
Weld RTS 80# $2000
MMR CF Trans Tunnel - 75# (claimed) $750
DBA 500 Rotors - 16# $800
CJ R Lowering Springs - #20 (According to JPC site) $250
Flaming River manual rack - #30 $750
Radiator support delete - 12# $150
SW Exhaust - 39#

Total = 385# excluding manual rack, 315# with Manual rack. Total cost 6-7k LOL

Free Weight I have done
Axle Weights 4#
STB 10#
Shaker 1000 speakers - #25
Pump and carpet out of brembo trunk - 8#
Empty washer fluid 7#
Engine Cover 3#
Hood liner (a few ounces but that bitch is ugly)

Total 58# - 120# if remove pass and rear seat on run.

CF hood does not save any weight over the stock aluminum hood according to TruFiber.
MMR CF trunk saves weight but make trunk basically not functional.

Conclusion - It is more cost effective to build the block and turn the boost up LOL, and shed weight on parts you have to replace

All the guys that I have spoken with that did the rear seats delete say it's not worth it. Too much road noise.

I'm at 3417 now, more weight to come. Warning, you are going to spend close to $10k for 3400lbs, Another $10k for Phase 2, Another $10 for phase 3. I add power while reducing weight.

I'm gettin there, as of now, the NA Cobra Jet 5.0 is what I'm building to. I may do some sort of FI but I am redoing the bottom end during P3.

So far.

Full Stainless Works Retro chambered Catted-X w/ 1 7/8 LTs (dropping cats and mid res)
Dyno tuned at Street Lethal by Lund (running conservative tune until Phase 2)
Comp Cam Stage 2 NSR (Boss 302R heads and cam being considered)
Weld Racing's "Cobra Jet" Magnums 17x5 fr, 15x10 rr (sways relocated)
Brembo delete to '09 GT fronts.
Roush Front fascia w/ splitter and fog light delete
Roush 7 bar grille
Weight reduction: 174lbs for parts, deletes 26lbs

Phase 2 (in progress)
Cobra Jet Intake (in route)
Dual 65 TB (in route)
Steeda CAI (in route)
ID's (haven't decided what's optimal)
Boss 302R heads (valves, springs and followers)
Boss 302R 13mm intake and exhaust (Best NA cams)
Cervini Cobra R fiberglass liftoff (received)
Cobra Jet quarter louvers (in route)
Barton (in route)
One piece aluminum drive shaft (still shopping)
Cobra Jet lowering springs
BMR K and A arms (need some input on full BMR drag suspension)
Racing buckets (shopping)
Battery (shopping)
Weight reduction: parts 148lbs, deletes 28lbs

Phase 3 coming soon... The Boss heads, cams, crank, rods and pistons could be this phase. Trying to get the heads done in P2 but I would really like a 3175lbs 2011 5.0 GT. Weight reduction becomes even more scarce in this phase. I'm on target to lose a total of 402lbs before FI and no cage.

Weight reduction comes at a price but, every mod sees major gains at the strip.

Still 400lbs heavier than the NA Cobra Jet.

The car looks showroom inside and out (except for the Weld Racing Cobra Jets). Another thing, the car will need relowered. Every 100lbs out, your ride height increases. Id wait to lower until after you reach 3175lbs. That's a $20,000 weight reduction program.

Really didnt know this. Is it because of the difference between the 14" Coil spring, vs the standard progressive spring?

Coilovers have very small springs comparatively. Also, the strut body is smaller since the spring is smaller, so it all adds up to weight reduction.

That's a big part of why I run the JPC front bumper support, but left the stock piece in the rear. My history tells me I'm FAR more likely to be rearended than to hit something in the front. It'd suck to have to total a great car because some jackass hit me from behind and I'd pulled out the stock bumper support to save a few pounds.

JPS'c front support is very nice though and it fits and supports the '13 bumper just fine!
