How hard can ported eaton be spun? e85

What prevents the eaton from making more power when "overspun"? Is it just heat, or just the blower simply not able to flow anymore air due to it's small size? I was planning on adding a 4lb lower and ported dragon combo to my 2.70" upper with e85 this summer. But since e85 cools the intake charge I was wondering if there were gains to be had running a 2.8/6lb combo or to even go as far as running a 6lb with my current 2.7? Think a pulley combo as aggressive as this would net good gains with e85 or am I just dreaming?

Blower RPM @ 6500
2.9/6lb - 20397rpm (for reference)
2.7/4lb - 20704rpm
2.8/6lb - 21125rpm
2.7/6lb - 21907rpm

there have been eatons spun hard and make over 550 rwhp. comes a point of diminishing returns though. i would think long and hard about doing a killer chiller with that combo.

I was thinking I wouldn't need a killer chiller due to the e85 cooling the intake charge pretty much doing the same thing?

You can make about 575/595 from what I have seen. I am doing a ported blower with a 2.93/4lb setup on E85.

2.76/6lb is just spinning it too hard. It turns into a heat gun at that point. You really won't make much more power than the 2.93/4lb.

Geez that looks nice, I see you peaked at 18psi, did you ever dyno with just the 2.8 and port? Interested to see how much boost you made on that.

I have a 2.70 and 2.80 pulley already. Thinking I could just get a 2.9 pulley as well and go ahead and get the 6lb lower. Then attempt the 2.7/6lb on e85 and if its just too much can back it down with switching out my upper pulley while it's on the dyno.

BTW how much power are you looking for?

I'd like to make at least 550whp corrected with a like amount of torque. But I'd like to completely max the eaton out to see what it can do on e85. That 575/595 number sounds awesome.

I do believe you will be over spinning it with that combo...... Just try a 2.7+#4 and if that doesn't get you there just spray it:beer:

Why just a 4lb with the 2.93? Seems like a lot ported guys are running 2.93/6lb without e85. With the cooling of e85 I'd think we'd been able to crank it up even more

I like this idea. Spray the house down with a big shot and keep it cool at the same time. These setups love lots of spray especially with E85.

Mine loves it! Ticking head and all never gave me a issue with a 100 shot.

You can view my ticking head thread if you like. I am getting to the bottom of it now.

WaffleMan, this sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to your 2.7/6lb results!

I would have to think Someone on SVTP has hit the 600 mark on E-85 with the most aggressive pulley setup possible on a ported Eaton..
