I would say he was a criminal POS and probably "did" deserve to be treated that way all things considered leading up to it. He did not deserve to die though. I think both can be true. Bad shit happens.
And the pregnant mom he pointed a gun at didn’t deserve to be treated that way either. Sometimes Karma comes and finds you.I agree with you on a lot of these points brother. Especially the highlighted parts.
And to the rest of you saying he was a drug addict or criminal POS he was still a human being who did not deserve to be treated that way. He was in custody with cuffs on his hands behind his back and on the ground. He should have been placed in a sitting position or in the squad car.
And if you still disagree I say imagine if that was your son, father or brothering being treated like that and ask yourself if you would still feel the cops actions were justified?
That’s where I think the officer will get charged. The guy was in custody and died, I don’t think he will walk.I’ve never felt like the knee on the neck killed him.
You can’t talk if you can’t move air through your esophagus.
Simple positional asphyxiation can occur with zero weight on your body. The officer applying pressure over his lower back, which would strain the diaphragm, probably had more to do with it.
Regardless, the officers performance in this situation was wrong.
When a subject is in your custody, you do have a duty to care for their well-being.
You can see a stream of liquid, likely urine, when the subject becomes unresponsive.
It’s actually disturbing to watch.
I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t get some sort of negligent homicide or manslaughter.

The lesson is, don’t arrest someone high on drugs because they could OD and ruin your career. That’s where I think the officer will get charged. The guy was in custody and died, I don’t think he will walk.

It wouldn’t have mattered, SID... Looters gonna loot!
these people doing the looting literally believe it’s reparations... has nothing to do with floyd, other than these incidents are just used as an excuse to behave like animals.
totally agree with your assessment, but I’ll add... Floyd gets ZERO compassion or empathy from me since he was already a proven career criminal. He should have been tossed out of this world the day he graduated to home invader with a deadly weapon.
**** THAT GUY.
I bet you sure are glad that it wasn’t your home and pregnant wife whom he violated/assaulted, nor will get the chance to in a future occasion...

Excited delirium. Educate yourselves. OD on Fentanyl. He was a dead man walking, and he also broke the law. If he never would have broken the law, although he probably would have died anyways, this whole scenario wouldn't of happened. Yet....family is awarded $26 million? Like they are going to start some kind of foundation and do something good with this money? Craziness.
No matter what happens, watch them burn the city down. This shouldn't be televised at all because it will have the same ending as the Rodney King episode.
I get your point Zyborg and can understand your feelings towards the guy (I don't support Floyd or his actions/lifestyle either. I hate all bad people no matter what color they are or what uniform they may wear). My point of view strictly comes from the event the cop is on trial for.
Now we need to ask ourselves.... Since Floyd is identified as a "career" criminal AND he is a home invader that pointed a gun at a pregnant woman, why was he on the streets? Who failed their?
My point is our judicial system is flawed at all levels (and believe me I have personal experience there). Which is why Floyd was on the streets when he should have been behind bars. I understand cops have a very difficult job, but their level of force should equal the threat and in all the videos I have seen Floyd did not represent a threat to the cops or the community once he was in custody and on the ground and that's all my original post was meant to convey.
I'm a Patriot and love the Blue. IMHO...many of the cops around the event did nothing to stop the action. He was cuffed behind the back and there was zero reasons they could not have placed the victim in the back seat of the car and processed him...like many times before. This was a crime with video evidence and there is a price to pay.
My guess it is going to 2nd degree Manslaughter.

When the paramedic call went out and when they got there maybe what acquits him of all charges too.All I know is the prosecution has an uphill battle proving murder. I said it months ago, best is manslaughter only because of the "rendering aid" part I guess.
