This car could of easily been under 4klbs if they went with smaller brakes, less cooling equipment etc. One other thing to note is the base is 4,225lbs, equipped with the recaros that is easily 30-50lb difference over the base seats that have heat/cool etc. Do a rear seat delete maybe another 30lb or so which I may do.
That was the only one I've been on track with. Now, keep in mind my car weighs 3300# with me in it, and puts down 645/610 at the tires.
It's not uncommon. I'm trying to remember the exact number, but I believe out of 5-6 ZL1 1LEs at COTA, 4 of them had heat soak issues. I'd have to text my buddy. The only one I've ever played with on track was running about 3 seconds per lap slower than I was in my car so the car wasn't being pushed. I have no idea if he ever had any issues, all he seemed to do was get in the way.
Hmm, we have a fleet of them, and "home of the Camaro driving school" never personally seen or heard anyone complain of it. C7z06.. Now thats a different story lol. Oh well, Looks like the 500 is very well sorted for heat too. Im mostly concerned about LostM betting me on the 500 vs ACR lap times at LS,RA and VIR...
So now he's hustling you for bets too??? What stupid stipulations has he put on this bet?? Is he lapping his personal car to try to beat RP's times in the ACR cause he was so hell bent on wanting an owner/owner dragstrip race between his car and 19 ZR1???
Said the 500 will beat the ACR at Laguna, Atlanta and VIR. Im sure he's gonna backpedal and say my reading comprehension is off.
Nah, I just want to see the spreadsheets and fancy graphs he had up before showing why the GT500 will win.
Grattan: I thought the track looked horrible. I agree that won't be representative of a VIR or Laguna Seca. Cooling: The ZL1 and ZL1 1LE will fall off a little bit after 8-10 laps, but just a little bit. I'm talking 1-3 mph on the straights and maybe 0.5 seconds on a 1:50 per lap track. Yes it's supercharged, but the cooling is superior to the Z06 Corvette. I'm calling bullshit on this one guys. They may have slowed down, but it wasn't because of pulled timing or limp modes. There were a few ZL1's with air in the supercharger cooling loop from the factory. The numbers that you guys are claiming is too high to be the cause. Maybe the guys are running in one of the nanny modes and the tire temp/pressure is not ideal. None of the ZL1 or ZL1 1LE's that I track with experience this.
Every FI car heatsoaks, and more often than not if it doesn't, it's a result of the driver and not the car. I'm using Hyperbole here, but it's like when people say something along the lines of "The stock pads are just fine, I've tracked my car X number of days and they've give me no issues." When in reality that person is turning Sunday stroll laps. The hard part about making statements like this is there's no baseline. One of our local guys has started asking people if they're faster than a spec miata lol. If you're not faster than a spec miata, whatever advise you're giving on parts is moot.
Honestly, Grattan is a mediocre track at best. It’s relatively short, and 30% of it is a straight. Point & shoot. Good for practicing and HPDE type events. Not ideal for high HP, highly capable track cars IMO. Regardless, fast is fast. No matter the location.
Should bet him membership here. Ain't no ****ing way the gt500 will touch the ACR time at laguna seca. The gt2rs barely beat the ACR. Gt2rs is lighter, more power, arguably better dct with their own pdk, 4-wheel steering, etc. Gt500 will not do a 1:28 time.
I'm not disagreeing at all, just not the only experience I've had with one. The guy said when he tracks at his home track, High Plains in Colorado, he doesn't have the issue.
You can check out my driving on Youtube. If you want to make comments afterwards, ok. If you want to believe second and third hand accounts over someone that regularly tracks the car in question and has even won a couple competitive Time Trial events, then I can't help you.
I'm not as interested in your lap times as I would be any datalogs you happen to have laying around of your sessions? I dont mean this as sarcastic as it may sound, but that would be very interesting. I've run with, built, raced, and tuned plenty of FI vehicles, and it's a lot of work to make them run right and keep them running right for 20+ minutes of full send.
