Well, the Z/28 is a real car...the GT350 is a pipe dream.

Wrong, Ford owns the rights to GT350 now as well as GT500. The Boss is done, Ford will fill that void by adding the GT350 back into the lineup. Anyone who believes otherwise is mistaken. Why would Ford purchase the naming rights to Gt350 if they didn't plan to use it?
There is a reason why Ford did not need a bail out, good business decisions.

Some GT350 variety... These are from M6G from a very talented artist (Mike) based on model renders from an also very talented artist Chaz (Charles). I will see if I can do some color request if there is a certain combo that is in demand.

The orange and blue paint on the first and second renders suddenly brought back images in my mind of the GT40 (Gulf).

You are correct in that Ford bought the rights for gt500/350 BUT the rights are for certain time frames and not full ownership of the rights. That is why shelby is discontinuing the gt350 so that ford svt will do a run of the 350 but not till 2016.

Carroll Shelby and Carroll Shelby Licensing own the trademark rights to GT 350 and GT 500

Carroll Shelby and Carroll Shelby Licensing own the trademark rights to GT 350 and GT 500

Ford Motor Company and Shelby America met in 2012 (before Shelby passed) and negotiated the extension of the GT500 nameplate well passed 2015 (probably another 10 years). During this time, the GT350 and Cobra Roadster were rumored to also been aquired. Ford bought the Cobra emblem off Shelby in the 1970's...

Ford Racing is currently prepping the GT/GT350 for Grand Am and SCCA for next season... This is happening, like it or not... There will not be a Boss 302.

Shelby American's president John Luft told Mustangs Daily that Ford had extended Shelby's contract well past 2015. That means that we should be getting Shelby-tuned GT500's for at least another decade or more. That means the next-gen Shelby will have to outdo 200 mph 2013 GT500 model, which will be no small task.

There was some cause for concern among Shelby fans, as there was talk about Ford bringing back the Mustang Cobra moniker that served as the top-of-the-line performance model from 1993 through 2004. Sorry Cobra fans, but it for now, Ford is staying on the GT500 bandwagon. Cobra is SO last millennium.

The plan as I see it... Ford has just dumped some money into Ford Racing and it's Motorsports programs. Some old programs were recently closed (Cobra Jet and Boss). Both Porsche and BMW has considerable amounts of funding in the US Motorsport arena so serious attention is needed here... now...

Can't wait for Chevy's Taurus sized z28 to bring any wins home, it won't be racing at all, anywhere... EVER...

The plan looks pretty simple and streamlined (Like BMW's M naming scheme), cover your essentials first and leave the GT500 in wait. The exciting new GT350 will be more than enough to keep us happy until MY2017...

Judging by the Chief Camaro Engineer's recent comments, I think Team Camaro is growing tired of chasing the Mustang... Especially now since the halo z28 is about to be served up to a potentially cheaper, faster and sanctioned GT350.

The orange and blue paint on the first and second renders suddenly brought back images in my mind of the GT40 (Gulf).
Bam!!! Nailed it.... These color teasers are indeed GT40 Gulf inspired.

The Z28 is an odd duck.
Incredible engineering of an overly large displacement engine. The car is very heavy even at the minus 300 lbs GM claims they removed. It weighs as much as a town car! Also At 428 cubic inches General Motors is still using 60 year old idea's of no replacement for displacement. If Ford could pull 444 out of 5.0 liters the engine should be around a 5.3 to 5.5 liters for the 505 HP, no 7008 CC or (428) CI. Its also funny that its 428 CI instead of the 427 they claim. With the cost of it being where the GT500 is, it's pricey. At a $30K+ buy in over a GT. I could do a hell of a lot of work to a GT including buying a boss 302 Crate engine (M6007M50B) and selling off the Coyote to the large demand of Coyotes for the Coyote Stock and modified classes. Full long Tube exhaust, CAI, Some work to the IM and TB, Aluminum DS, Long Tubes and full exhaust and you there at the 500HP mark. Id still have $20K left over. You could also step up to M-6007-M54 5.4L and still pocket $15K if you sell off your Coyote!!

Old idea? There is no replacement for displacement. Is chevy leaving hp on the table sticking to pushrod, sure DOHC motors have less valve train parts thus are more efficient( see BMEP ). However you will never get a N/A DOHC motor to pull like a N/A pushrod motor down low. Pushrods have the low end torque and DOHC's make power high up.

Turbos, nitrous and superchargers all increase effective displacement of air due to compression of molecules and N20 has more oxygen molecules ( Boyle's Law )

How is Ford getting more hp out of less? BA ported heads and a 7500rpm rev range(boss).

It's physics... you can get more horsepower out of 7.0l then 5.0l because in the end you are moving more air. Because in the end all a motor does is move air.

Look at top fuel, 500Cuin and on top of that a 14-71 supercharger at 5.0bars of pressure to increase the effective displacement.

Also fords pushrod 5.0 was in fact a 4.9l 4,942 cc not a real 5.0l. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Windsor_engine

Do I like the new Z/28? Hell no but I bet it's going to be a N/A monster with aftermarket parts. You show me a N/A 5.0 302 coyote making 647RWHP that you can putt around on the street... you can't. Jpc is making 550RWHP on a 318Cuin with only 430torque.

http://ls1tech.com/articles/watch-c...thout-nitrous-forced-induction-motor-monster/ < and look at that torque almost 600 peak!

Look at my car list, i'm not on either side of the fence.

These renders are starting to make me worry about the new stang because they seem to be getting uglier.
