getting axle tubes welded up ?

Am glad your still with us. When heated brake cleaner will produce Phosgene Gas = deadly when inhaled.
Phosgene Gas is one of the chemicals used during the WW1 gas war attacks.
To be on the safe side I do not have brake cleaner in my shop there are safer cleaning chemicals available.

We don't get the good brake cleaner in Ca but thanks for the concern. To be honest I was more worried about blowing myself up welding less than a foot away from the gas tank.

I did mine in the car and it did not warp anything. Just do small passes and let it cool off in between welds and you are good. People think way to much into this.

I do agree with others on the "right" way to do it but meh...

At the end of the day if I bugger it up the axle is cheap enough to replace.

At the end of the day if I bugger it up the axle is cheap enough to replace.... Much cheaper than the motor that I'm banking on going boom sooner or later once it gets more boost.
