Furniture modding......mancave table

We have an extra room in the house I decided to turn into a place to display my football / racing stuff and just have a cool place for the wife and I to relax . I bought all the furniture including a dual recliner loveseat , end tables , lamps etc .

I couldnt find a coffee table I liked so I decided to make my own . I decided upon a FORD inspired table . Here are the pics of my progress so far....

I started with a wrought iron table and some 10 holes I found on craigslist .

The 10 holes were pretty beat and took a lot of TLC . I started with sandpaper and kept moving to finer grit until I got a nice polished look . heres a little before and after...

The face of the wheels were pretty scuffed up too....I just cleaned em up real good and shot them with a good primer and some silver paint.....turned out pretty good....

Now onto the table.....

I started with some cross braces to hold the wheels in place.......and yes pink string and soda cans are great fabrication tools .

Both wheels fit like a glove.....

The legs of the table were a bit too fancy for me .....I cut them down a bit...

Before and after....I thought after cutting they had more of a leaf spring look .

The look of the legs gave me an idea.....every chasis needs a suspension right?

The table is getting some coil overs!

I made the springs out of coat hanger . I straightened them , polished them and twisted them around my jack handle .

I was trying to figure out what to use as the shock......The handle on my truck brush was a nice flat aluminum....

I sanded down the table real good...shot it with some primer ....and painted it FORD blue of course.....

Here it is with one of the coil overs test fitted:

I found some nice flat aluminum valve stem caps....

Thats it for today....I'm gonna work on it some more tomorrow and I'll post some more pics .

Going to be a gnarly table. But I think you are confused on what a man cave is. The wife is only allowed in there to clean, serve sammiches/beer, and sexings. Not to relaxoke:

I love the coil-overs idea. And those springs look perfect. Definitely some very creative ideas coupled with fabrication skills. Can't wait to see the finished table. Nice!
