Ordered a spare set of axles for our Performance Package GT. We'll have these on hand just in case we break the original ones at the drag strip.

They are actually pretty damn beefy.

The spline count is 35 on the diff side, and 32 on the hub side. The joints look beefy, and there appears to be some heat treating going on.

So, hopefully these will hold up to some decent power. We're having some built, as well.

I'm assuming its the way the Diff works. Even with an LSD one side will always see more load than the other, its the reason cars **** to the side when coming hard off the line.

Why are they 2 different diameters?

Supposedly, it has to do with harmonics. They make them 2 different diameters in order to avoid issues with vibration. That's what killed the Cobra axles. I forget where I read that a while ago, but someone had figured it out.

The V2 CTS V used different diameter axles for that very reason.

If you're really going to run it hard at the track, call up RCV and see if they'll make you a beefy set. I had a set of them in my Jeep and the withstood a TON of abuse.

32 and 35 spline is great, but hope the CV's themselves are strong.
