Can we start a thread for us road racers? I just figured that although the majority of the people who own our cars love to drive fast in a straight line, there are those of us who prefer to drive fast for longer than 12 seconds or less and are just trying to find the perfect apex. I will start.

Stock 13' GT Track Package car.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ 275/40/19's
Only mechanical mod is the Barton shifter and helper spring removal

Nurburgring Nordschleife Bridge to Gantry 10:17 2nd lap ever.

I did one more lap but that was mid day and the traffic and closures because of wrecks were a factor in just cruising around. I'm going again next year once the weather gets warm. I plan on getting into VIR and CMP when I get back to the states and retire in SC. Road ATL is on the list too. I'm going to try and hit up Spa and the Hockenheim Ring while I'm here too.

What app are you using to time your laps? I've chatted with a few people using Harry's Lap timer, and may get it before my next track weekend. My GF and i (she has a '14 m6 v6) don't "race," we just prefer open track days every other month, but i wouldn't mind keeping tabs on my pace.

Harry's is excellent. With a simple OBD II blue tooth you can get rpms, throttle position, etc. Some guys use an external GPS too. Great for HPDEs.

Drag Racing = more money more speed. Road Courses it is 90% a drivers race which is why I prefer it. Blowing by a C6 Z06 or a Porshe is extremely satisfying in a $30K Mustang.

Our favorite track to date is Texas World Speedway outside of college station, although MSR Angleton is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. TWS is apparently shutting down next May since the land has been sold, but they're scheduled to open a new track in Bryan next September in its place called Bluebonnet racing circuit.

My GF and i are actually looking to to the performance driving school the weekend of the 21-22 in December at TWS.

Or vice versa lol. Very humbling to have to point the bone stock BR-z by at my first event, even if it was driven by an instructor. It does put things in perspective for you.

Im heading to College Station again in the Spring for one last TWS hurrah. You should try out MSR Cresson though, its IMO a better track, slower and more technical.

I'd recommend going through a 3rd party. We went through the drivers edge for our last event, and the drivers edge will have all the information and requirements on their website.

What i typically do is check track calenders for which 3rd parties will be at the track on any given weekend, and then check that third parties website for additional information, cost, etc...

Would be nice if there were also a lessons learned race tips thread for road racing the 2011-2014 Mustang. I'll look for one but if you have a link please post.

Hoping to make it back to TWS in the spring as well. My first and only time there was March of this year. Hallett is my home track but I try to hit one new track a year.

Here was my fun moment from TWS... Turned in too early on 7, clipped the curb and threw me off line. Wasn't going to be able to bring it back so just drove off as straight as I could.

I would like to see a road coarse thread/topic. Been thinking on buying another set of wheels and tires and going out a few times a year. There are 2 tracks close to home. I'm sure there is a lot I could learn on the topic

I've used the trackmaster app and liked it overall but also recommend the external GPS. My favorite track in the NE/Mid-Atlantic region so far has been Shenandoah (Summit Point) and best hero lap there was a 1:51 although most were in the 1:53-1:54 range. VIR is an awesome track although I've only run it in the North/South configurations on motorcycles.

So far I've been running Goodyear Supercar G:2 takeoffs that all the GT500 guys sell cheap. They suck as a sticky street tire when cold but really work well on the track when hot. Here are a couple of sessions from Shenandoah from a TrackDaze event.

There's an entire section on this forum to Open Track Racing but the Mustang crowd tends to gravitate towards drag racing. I've experienced both and Drag Racing bores me in comparison.

Check out the Corner Carvers section on S197forum.com, there's a lot of veterans over there who actively compete and plenty of instructors as well.

I have taken our car out to High Plains Raceway just east Denver. Started out with an HDPE1 event last year just to learn, and then a couple of open lap days this year. I still have the stock all season tires on my car and have been humbled by a few Miatas as they pass me in the corners. Hoping to have new rims/tires next year to stop the slipping/sliding.

I have just started using Harrys LapTimer and the TrackAddict apps...easy to use.

I called MSR in houston.they said you have to be a member run the track and the cost of that is 5k +250 a month.or you can show up on the member track day and pay 600 for the day. Does all the road course tracks cost this much?
